How is Northwestern in a Bowl Game?

I'm just starting to cap this game and I'm astonished at some of their numbers. Six wins, 4 of which came against teams with a combined record of 10-38 (Duke, Penn State, Illinois, Indiana). The average loss margin against the five bowl teams they lost to was 25 points.

It sucks that a team like Uconn or Northern Illinois can't get into a bowl game, and Big 11 bottom feeders do. I'd love to see Uconn play Bowling Green.

i have already learned my lesson betting on a 6-6 squad this bowl season. kansas was in the tangerine and shouldnt have been. northwestern is in the same boat. i think northern illinois or uconn should have had a shot at this one instead of a awful northwestern team. i just cant take the points in this one. lay the # and collect coin. bowling green rolls.

I still have to look further into the stats of these teams, but considering that Bowling Green beat Purdue, and played Ohio State in the horseshoe to the very finish, I'm leaning in that direction. Northwestern got blasted by these teams, and even worse by MAC champion Miami (OH)

I hope you are all right, but its games like these where shitty ass teams aka Northwestern will "somehow" win!

If you guys are all right-

1- Why is all the action on Nothwestern since the line has opened gone from 8 to 6.5

and

2- Why isn't Bowling Green a bigger favorite?

This is a scary one. Not as easy as it seems. Or else, we'd all be rich.

i was thinking the same thing at first...i felt a little uncomfortable because i bet a little on every pre-jan 1st dog when the lines opened(got nw at 8)......i initially liked b.g... and felt like i made a mistake taking the dog...then i looked closer and was impressed with n.w.`s running game...northwestern has a very powerful ground game and bowling green has had problems in some games vs the run....

check some of bowling greens scores vs middle rung mac clubs.....there were quite a few reasonably close(10-12 points) ball games....and gives up some points vs some fairly pedestrian competition

b.g. appeared to put up tons of yardage but didn`t always finish....

that said,i was thinking that inside the dome with no weather concerns, that over 54 was the way to go.......maybe just lay the 6 with b.g. for a potential middle and stick with the over....

i like the over,myself...

There is some info available if you go to the Detroit Free Press, then to sports and find the Motor City Bowl scouting report. Just a little something that i came across in my search for info. Good Luck!!!!!

BG wins this game. Their QB is a stud. They can run and pass the ball. Plus they are a small time school so you don't have the overlook the shitty opponent factor. Fact is they played decently against Miami of Ohio the last time they played them, and I don't care what anyone says that is a top 8 team. I for one am glad the line is moving the other way, lowers the back door cover factor, which is the only way NW steals the money in this matchup

Well. I have to agree on the Bowling Green bet. I have looked at this game in depth and think that Bowling Green looks a lot better on paper then Northwestern. I have seen Northwestern play some games this year and they don't look very impressive. Their coach was a former running back and they really stress the running game. I hope BOWLING GREEN can pull this one out by at least a touchdown. Good luck to everyone else.

Have any of you guys thought about just taking the OVER? I can actually make a case for taking Northwestern and the points as well as Bowling Green. So.....OVER it is for me!

Line movements mean nothing to me. The line on the New MExico/Oregon State game moved in NM favor and look at the result of that game.

Agreed. Watch for the sudden bump up at game time for BG to back to 7. Then you will know the sharps hit it. All public right now on NW.

Northwestern wins this game today. Jason Wright and the NU O-Line will own the line of scrimmage. The defense is a lot better than they were two years ago.

This the N.Mexico - Oregon State game of the day. Everyone will be on BG when the obvious choice is Northwestern.

BG has a better QB and that's it but that won't be the difference.

I'm also on the over.

The public is on BG not Northwestern. At a popular consensus site has:

BG -7- 533 picks
NW +7- 223 picks

That is 70% of the people on the Falcons so what is the real reason for the line dropping? I am on NW +7 -115 for 5 units today and thinking of putting more on this game as everyone besides Big Earn and me are on BG. I lost thinking the same thing with NM but this kind of thinking has won me money this year so I will continue to look at everything including line movement an who the public is on. NW should be able to run vs the Falcons and control the game by keeping their offense off of the field.

i like the over....but i`m concerned that no b.g. away games have gone over the 54 or 55 point threshhold...

b.g. is a powerhouse at home....not so much on the road.....

no side for me in either game....to tough...
