There are multiple sources for replacement keyboards so search and call if your laptop is not ancient or off- brand. Changing out the whole keyboard is easy (usually the first step is to pop the plastic bar above the keyboard which usually surrounds the on/off/start button). You can repair keyboards regardless of the problem or damage but you have to be motivated and patient. I would recommend locating a replacement -usually $60 -$100.
If you can get the keyboard disconnected from the laptop try this...it works for all keyboards by the way.
Wash it off with hot water...the higher the pressure the better. Really blast it out.
Seriously...let it air dry very well...for days or a week even....tip it around and let it sit in different positions so it drains out well.

I bought one of those Monday at Walmart ( about $12). It didn't fix my problem, it doesn't override the laptop's keyboard, they both work.
The problem is this key sticks, //////////////////////////////////////////
I can get it to stop for awhile by pounding that key a number of times. I've taken that key off, and blown it out with compressed air. Backspace is also funky, it works, but you have to press it fairly hard.
Been there. End result is that you turned your laptop into a desktop. That might work for some but most of the time a repair is the better option. As to the economics of trashing the laptop and buying new on the cheap, I struggled to repair my laptop because of software issues, not money issues.
