</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>NEW YORK (AP) -- Fans will pay starry prices for this year's All-Star game at Yankee Stadium.
Tickets will be priced at $150-$725 for the July 15 game, Major League Baseball announced Tuesday. That's up from $75-$285 for last year's game at San Francisco and $10-15 for box and reserved seats the last time the All-Stars were at Yankee Stadium, in 1977.
Tickets for the Home Run Derby and workout day on July 14 are $100-$650, an increase from $50-$225 last year. Tickets for the Futures game on July 13 are $50-225, up from $22.50-$125 last year.
Prices likely will decrease for the 2009 All-Star game, to be hosted by the Cardinals.
"They will be adjusted for St. Louis. This was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity -- instant memorabilia, instant memories," said Bob DuPuy, baseball's chief operating officer. "The regular-season ticket prices in New York are substantially higher than they are in St. Louis."
Registration to buy two tickets each for the All-Star game and Derby began Tuesday on mlb.com, and a drawing will be held June 16. Winners must buy the tickets June 23.
"I wish I was playing in it," Hall of Famer Yogi Berra said at a Yankee Stadium news conference.
The All-Star game is coming to New York during the 84th and final season at Yankee Stadium. The team is scheduled to move next year into a $1.3 billion ballpark under construction across the street.
"The last season, it's only fitting that it's here," Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter said. "I hope I'm in it."
The Yankees plan to donate $7 million to local programs from All-Star activities, and co-chairman Hal Steinbrenner said his father, George, is excited about the July festivities.
"He's going to be very emotional, without a doubt," Hal Steinbrenner said. "This is a big deal."
One change to All-Star week will come during the Futures game, which will last nine innings instead of seven. The United States team will be largely comprised of the U.S. Olympic baseball team, DuPuy said.

Not really surprising-it is New York. They probably aren't doing much more than screwing the scalpers out of a FAT profit....and they may still get one.

Or you could change the thread title to "How dumb are ticket buyers"

The game will be a sell out and people will pay the prices with no hesitation. People always complain about ticket prices for sporting events but they always still pay for them.

I was looking into various ticket prices on stubhub for some events this year to do a little traveling and was dumbfounded by how expensive the All-Star game and even the other festivities around it were.

It's no different than the owner of the Astros. Ticket prices for the Yankees and Red Sox home games are quite a bit more expensive than all the other games. I believe all games are SRO already.

I agree completely. I still never have understood why or how people so much to go to a game and there is 50% chance you are going to leave pissed off if your team loses.

They should charge a ton for tickets. They not only A) live in pretty much the most expensive market ever but B) pay their players a ton of cash. You want to see the best, ya gotta pay for the best... It's not like the Yankees put a bad product on the field.

people are retarded. i never understood the point of going to a game. everything is expensive from the tickets to the food and beverages. i went once to a celtics game in 96, someone gave me a ticket, they had season tickets but couldn't go that day. anyway it was a $65 seat loge section i believe. i couldn't really see sht and if someone gave me another ticket for free i'd turn it down. i'd rather watch the game on hdtv, its better than having a front row seat.

I pretty much agree ! I went to Yankee stadium once on a bus trip, shitty seats, drinking out of a water fountain was about as appetizing as drinking from a toilet bowl, so $9 beers instead... never again !

It really was that bad, you wouldn't drink from the "bubbler" as BTJ might say!

Even more shocking (to me) was the driving manuevers the bus driver had to perform in that city !

I've lived in some decent sized cities like Vegas, suburbs of SD, Colo Springs ( about 300k people at the time). The Springs was a cakewalk. NYC is insane, no way I'd brive a dus there, not even for $50/hour !

To me a small city, like Hartford,CT( 150k or so people) is nothing. Wife panics is she has drive there, I'm like this ain't shit !

Scariest place I ever drove is Tijuana. More for crazy drivers,Policia, language barriers, than anything else.

i am almost positive that MLB (not the team) sets the prices for all-star games (and playoffs etc).

Are there any Yankee season ticket holders in this forum?

I wonder what the policy was for transferring seats to the new stadium...was there a founder's fee?

I would imagine the Yank's required season ticket holders to cough up extra cash to get the same seats in the new park.
