any order of top 3 ok with me but what amazes me about tiger is that there are 50 solid contenders every week he plays not like when jack teed it up he had maybe 12 guy he had to beat........if tiger wasn't in golf there would be a different winner almost every week but because of him there are different second place finishers every week

Im a little biased because Im white....just kidding.I used play hockey with a passion,he was my idol.As an avid and pretty good golfer I can fully appreciate what Tiger does week in and week out.Add to the mix the advancements in equpiment and it becomes more amazing that someone else can keep up with him.I wonder how Tiger would do with some circa '75 woods and irons....lol.

anyone who says golf isnt a sport is uninformed...

usually the people that make such claims have either never played the game at a high level or never played at all ..

if you were really good at it and went and played a 4 round tourney where you walked , trust me , if you were in contention you would be physically and meantally drained after it was over.

I think Jack would dominate in today's game as well. How would tiger fare back in Jack's heyday when the clubs were much smaller and could not hit as far or as accurate?

i think every tour event should have 4 to 6 inch rough ..

then guys like tiger who only hit 50 % of the fairways would find it a little tougher to reach the green .

these are the best players in the world , make them play like it week in and week out..

i'm kinda tired of watching guys hit 330 all over the place and have 15 footers for birdie .

you miss the fairway by 15 yards , you shouldnt be putting for birdie . you should be pitching from 50 yards away for birdie.

Except for the driver Tiger is basically hitting the same clubs Jack hit. He uses custom forged blades which I assure you aren't easy to hit. I'm not sure but I think Jack used a metal wood when he won the Masters in 86. Tiger's 2000 year record came with him using a steel shafted driver. I'm not knocking Jack but Tiger's the most dominant golfer ever.

Anyone who thinks that walking roughly 5 miles over a period of three to four hours is anywhere close to physically challenging is dreaming (don't forget, pros don't carry their bags). Obviously it takes some technique and talent, but so do darts and bowling and, like golf, they aren't sports.

Then why do they call horse racing the sport of kings....unless you consider horse racing a sport and jockeys athletes....Drunken Horseplayer,do you think jockeys and horses are athletes like announcers on TV call them?? Golf is definetly a sport and anyone who disagrees has never tried to hit a little white ball off a toothpick....ever watch Barkley trying to hit a golf ball??

Tiger is the best GOLFER ever, Thats as far as you can go with it imo.He wouldn't knock out Ali, He wouldn't take Jordan to the hoop. He wouldn't deek out Wayne, He wouldn't strike out Ruth or outrace Sr.

tiger would have alot better chance at achieving any of these, than any of these people would have at beating tiger at golf

This is a copy of some stats I put together regarding Wayne Gretsky. Not sure how they would translate over to golf or even tennis for that matter but these stats just blow team sports away.

Wayne Gretzky has 51% more points than Mark Messier who has the second most points of all time. This is unbelievable but lets put this into even more perpective.

Pete Rose, Baseball’s all time hit leader would have to play another 20 years to reach that.

Kareem Abdul Jabaar, the NBA’s all time points leader would have to play another 15 years to reach that. (Jordan is only 3rd all time in points…ya I know he had to leave the game for a few years for gambling….hey wasn’t Pete Rose banned for that? Anyway…)

Dan Marino the NFL’s all time passing leader for yards would have to play another 9 years.

Lets face it: A.) I have too much time on my hands and B.) Gretzky dominated a team sports like no other.

I consider jockeys to be athletes although not nearly the athletes that players in conventional sports are, as evidenced by the fact that jockeys in their 40's routinely ride just as well as those in their 20's; I absolutely consider the horses to be big-time athletes. And yes, I've seen Barkley try to golf but I'll repeat: just because something is difficult doesn't make it a sport.

Best pure athlete might have to go to Bo Jackson.

Besides he is the best Tecmo Bowl player of all time.
