President Obama and his teenage daughters stood joined a standing ovation at a Broadway show and took a stroll through Central Park on Saturday as their whirlwind trip of New York City came to an end..
Malia, 17, and Sasha, 14, are enjoying a rare trip alone with their father, having taken a number of vacations to China and Europe with First Lady Michelle.
And it seems the president was keen to show them a good time.
The trio lingered in an Italian restaurant in Greenwich Village past 11pm on Friday before driving the motorcade around the city's streets then taking a private after-hours tour of the new Whitney Museum on the Hudson River.
On Saturday, there was no sign of the First Family until around 11.30am as they enjoyed a rare lie-in before an activity-filled day.
Later on the headed to the Richard Rodgers theater to catch the matinee of Hamilton - where a fellow audience member captured him rising to his feet and applauding on their cell phone.

As the performance came to an end, he took a helicopter to JFK International Airport to board a flight to McCarran Air Force base - ending his two-day trip to see his daughters.
On Saturday, as sun broke, they made made a beeline for Central Park, joined by the president's sister, Maya Soetoro-Ng and her husband, Konrad Ng.
Maya, Obama's maternal half-sister, is a university instructor based in their native Hawaii. The siblings share a very close relationship despite living far apart. Her husband Konrad, a Chinese-Canadian, is the director of the Smithsonian Asian Pacific American Center and also a university professor in Hawaii.
They strolled along the park's pathways, bringing pedicabs, bikers, skaters, horse-drawn carriages and walkers to a screeching halt as people whipped out cellphones to capture the moment.
Malia, dressed in a casual denim jacket and playsuit, was seeing laughing heartily as she chatted to her aunt Maya.
Meanwhile Sasha stuck to her father's side. Both in sunglasses, he beamed and proudly put his arm around Sasha, while she flashed a cool smile at the cameras.

On Saturday afternoon they headed to a Broadway matinee of Hamilton, the hit hip-hop musical about the Founding Fathers.
It's the president's first time seeing the full show.
Creator Lin-Manuel Miranda first performed material from what he was then calling 'The Hamilton Mixtape' for a newly elected Obama in 2009. First lady Michelle Obama caught it in downtown this spring.
The Obamas have been big boosters of Broadway, seeing such shows as 'Memphis,' 'Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark,' 'Sister Act,' 'The Trip to Bountiful,' 'Motown the Musical' and 'Kinky Boots.'
It's an outing that will no-doubt delight the president, who has openly lamented the fact that Sasha and Malia are less interested in hanging out with him as they get older.
But the girls, who recently visited London and Italy with their mother, have looked delighted to be spending time with their father - and his entourage of security - all weekend.
Sasha, 14, was spotted casually hopping on Air Force One with two friends on Friday in Washington, D.C. Arriving minutes later, they were greeted by Malia, 17, who is interning on the HBO show Girls in New York.

White House spokesman Josh Earnest said the president was 'looking forward to a rare opportunity he'll have to spend a little personal time with his daughters in New York.'
Earnest wouldn't say what activities were on their schedule, but said journalists taking part in the weekend would be kept up to date.
He then quickly noted that journalists traveling to New York with the president would not actually be participating in his outings with Malia and Sasha.
'That might interfere with the personal nature of the father-daughter time,' he quipped.
When the Democratic fundraiser was over with, the president headed downtown for an upscale Italian dinner at Carbone in the West Village.
Obama rarely stays overnight in New York unless he's there for business, such as the UN General Assembly.

Muslim social scientists and researchers have spent a great deal of time trying to determine the number of Muslims in the United States. Most accept the estimate of from 5 million to 8 million. That is to say at least 5 million people in North America claim Islam as their religion and/or practice.
