How does a school like Notre Dame not have a good Quarterback?

How does such a good football school not have a good quarterback. Is it lack of recruiting or what. I am not sure how they cant find a great qb to go to Notre Dame????? Any opinions??

no passing qb would come to nd

look at ron powlus, they had him running the option when he was a drop back passer like drew brees

now tyrone wants to open things up with a passer
quinn is now their man

I think it started with Ron Paulus(sp?)- the most overrated college QB EVER.

ND stresses the run. So they haven't recruited passing QBs. They haven't moved out of the dark ages yet. The new frosh QB will be a good passer in a year.

I'm sure others closer to the school have better/more accurate comments.

I live by the school. It is very disappointing when they are always ranked in the top 10 for recruiting every year. When Willingham came in, I was hoping he would bring in some much needed speed to streatch the field. All I see is the same offense they have had for the past 5+ years.

My advice - pound their unders, I have.

They still living on past sucesses with being a tailback offense, that plays smash mouth football. Or they are still looking for that one guy who will carry the team. Remember the Rick Miaer days with the Rocket and Jerome. Or Culver and that small white bread speedster guy, who returned punts and played wide receiver.
