I smash some Garlic, melt some butter & add a little Italian seasoning and some black pepper. Then I proceed to grill it to a nice medium rare. It comes perfect every time.
Not long at all, I just poke holes in the steak with a fork, it makes it more tender and everything gets in the steak real good. Don't use dressing on the steak. Use the seasoning only.
The dressing does make a mean chicken breast though.
My brother's wife used to make a great chicken breast with the Italian seasoning. Any recipes you can pass along or do you use the same mix you use with the steak?

Never marinade a steak!
Light coating of EVOO and a generous rub of Montreal steak seasoning
Or
Combine equal parts Montreal SS and dry mustard, add just enough Worcestershire to make a thick paste, spread and grill.
Do yourself a favor and buy yourself a 48 blade Jaccard. [$20-30]. Stab the hell out of your chicken breasts and let them soak in a dish covered with Wishbone Italian dressing. Grill/char them up like that and then brush them with some Open Pit before pulling them off the grill. Tenderest, tastiest chicken breast you ever ate if done right. I use mine for almost any meat I cook.
