Horseshoe : I agree. I wasn't too serious about a local, but it's a term that keeps popping up, I'd be very leery of using one !
As to K.H., I've never seen the property, but read a bit about it in the local paper. If I recall correctly, it was only a few acres, with an old house on it, maybe 80-100 years old ! There are many houses in this area that date to the 1700's, and earlier. I think the property was listed for a few million dollars.
It's a case of the land having the value, not the home. After all she didn't make 20- mill per movie.
Art Carney ( Norton... Honeymooners ) lived nearby also, never met him, but heard he was very down-to-earth, and approachable .
Large estates, with dozens of acres don't exist here (on the shore ), 3-4 acres is plenty.
In this area a house with a half-acre of land, starts at about 250k, rather typically, even a 700 SF condo, runs over 100k, it's insane ! I bought a condo for 150k about 3 years ago, that I could sell for 250k, now !
