You lose about 89.4% of the juices as it shrinks.

If you're marinating, fixing, seasoning or tenorizing your steak, you've got shitty steak. Get yourself a good piece of meat, put it on the grill, flip it ONCE and ONLY ONCE, and take it off. NO poking, NO cutting. If you need some Lee&Perrins, fine, but only after cooking. And not too much.
I poked a bunch of holes in my steaks with a fork figuring it would make it more tender to chew and get some of my seasoning in the center.

good thread.

I prefer a very hot grill.

Also make sure steak is room temperature before you put it on the grill.

Let the meat rest for 3-5 minutes so the juices can re-distribute.

Nothing wrong with a cast iron skillet a little olive oil put it on the stove and when the skillet gets really hot put the steak on--TIP-- open the windows and turn on the fans.

1. Make sure the meat has some fat in it. It has to be marbled.
2. Salt the meat. That's It! Dont use that crap they sell in stores. (ie steak spice)
3. Set BBQ to it highest heat, and brush some oil on the racks. Grill for 3-4 mins each side for Medium Rare

(depends on thickness of steak, could take 1-1.5 min longer each side
4. Add garlic butter to steak after taking it off the grill.
5. When done cooking it, make sure you are eating it 1-4 mins after you take it off the grill. If you cover it and eat some 10mins later, just remember that it is still cooking even after you take it off the grill, so medium-rare will end up being medium by the time you eat.
5. When it's served, add salt/pepper to ones personal taste.

Only way to eat a steak. Those who order it medium/well-done etc. can't really enjoy a steak in my opinion. I laugh whenever I go to a restaurant and people order a $40-$50 steak and ask for it well done. What a waste!

Good Luck!

Just remember, it takes some practice to get really good at making steak on the BBQ. The type of steak, thickness, heat of grill (all BBQ's are different so what takes 3 mins on your BBQ at Hight, might take 5 mins on someone elses) are all factors that must me considered.

I have found this is the best way to cook a steak. Less is more. Like i said, stay away from those store bought spices. They kill the taste.

Just like with the store bought spices, stay away from store bought barlic butter. Make your own. Chop some fresh garlic, take some soft butter, and parsley and mix it all together. Then put in fridge to cool/get hard and take out and spread over steak after grilling.

Like I said ... the heat is the key. If it's to hot, you will burn it. If it's not hot enough it will undercook.

It will take you between 3-5 times to get the heat/timing down, but when you do ... man does it ever taste good! :103631605

I could never be a vegetarian, cuz anytime you put a piece of rib-eye in front of me, I start to drool. :lolBIG:

Microwave, I am sure you can pick one up at Walmart for under $30. Just pop it in the microwave for 2 minutes on high then take it out, put pepper and bbq sauce on it and throw it back in for 30 seconds on medium to heat up the sauce a little.

that is too funny

I haven't been to Lawry's the Prime Rib in a long time and for some reason I never ate there when it opened in Vegas although I promised myself I would eat there one day!

Since I should be there January 2nd for a week, I'll go there to celebrate.

My steaks are better than Ruth Cris!

Go to Costco and get some 2-4 pieces of Ribeyes (I like this better than Fillet Mignon)
1 clove of garlic chopped
1/4 cup of soy sauce
1/4 cup of red wine (regular drinking wine will do, this will make the meat tender)
3-4 table spoons of honey (this will lightens the salty taste of the soy sauce, also makes the steak moist and glisten coming out of the grill)
throw in a tea spoon of dried rosemary, and/or thyme if you like

Marinate the steaks for 30 minutes in the fridge and cook ~4 minutes on each side on medium heat. I don't use a timer, instead I'll smoke a cigarette as the meat is cooked on the grill and flip it to the otherside when I'm ready to throw out the cigarette and do the same thing again.

Before the steaks come out of the grill, I'll turn the heat up high to brown the steaks during the last minute.

Once out of the grill, keep it covered with aluminum foil for 3-5 minutes to let the juice settled (this way when you cut the steak, it'd be juicy inside :puppy:).

You can flip the meat sooner if you'd like medium rare. Add more soy sauce and more red wine accordingly.

I guarantee you it won't taste like A-1 or any other steaks you've eaten before.
