How did you guys get into gambling in the first place?

Rosecroft Race Track friends of family owned a harness horse and my folks hung out there a lot while we kids ran around the grandstands,snuck into the clubhouse and paddocks.
Told my friend to have his dad bet 5-3 exacta,it came in 5/3 and paid $750 and this was like 1967.

Bought a briggs and srtaton mini bike.

mine started in the Pool Rooms, and Bookies and all walks of life come through pool rooms, and the bookies like to gamble on pool then they get you betting sports with them.

in 1995 i was running my mouth before the nba playoffs started that houston would win it all and nobody realized how good drexler made them
SO when they played orlando i was 100000% sure they would win
this kid gave me 4-1 on the rockets for 10 bucks
then the day before the series he goes if somebody sweeps it pays double. Im like lol ok who cares not thinking it would be a sweep
Ofcourse houston swept and the little ****** tried to weasle out of that part of the deal, but he paid up a few weeks later. 80 bucks in 8th grade i was a king.

1960...Atlantic City Racetrack with my Mom...was only 9 years old and got back 6.20 for a two dollar bet..went on to junior high and began to hustle pool and pitching coins...high school began to play poker and was a book in college..natural progression...LOL

Me too, flipping pennies at the age of 9.
Plus that my dad and my uncles have been betting the games for the past 60 years.

My buddy ran for a bookie my first year of college. Long story short....I hit an 8-teamer on one of those tip sheets. Cost me $2 and I won like $90 or something. I was hooked after that. That was in 1993.

It surrounded me early since childhood.

My dad did. Newspaper, rotary phone and a local. A strict rule for my brother and I was that we couldn't use the phone anytime between 4:00pm - 5:30 everyday - Incoming daily lines from the local.

Also during family get together's (e.g. b-days, thanksgiving, xmas party's, etc) a majong and poker table were always set up in the garage. Aunts and uncles played till the sun came up.

I also remember my dad momentarily stepping out in the middle of church on Sunday mornings for obvious reasons.:lol: I thought it was so cool. Let's see..what else.


But the best story of all? My dad and his best friend single handedly sent all of his 5 sisters to nursing school and to the U.S. from various activities. (e.g. rooster fighting, running numbers, dealing 21 and eventually pit bossing)
He'd come back with literally grocery bag loads of cash for my aunts. It is easily his singlemost memerable legacy he'll leave behind with all of my extended family. (That and being an awesome dad)

9 yrs old was my 1st sight of Vegas. Circus Circus obviously.

12 yrs old..my dad let me use my allowance on my 1st parlay card. Hit a 3 teamer on $5 after the 3rd try.
