Federal judge blocks Trump from using $2.5B in military funds for border wall

A California federal judge issued a ruling blocking President Trump from using $2.5 billion in military funds to build a wall along the southern border.

The ruling by U.S. District Court Judge Haywood Gilliam, who is an appointee of former President Barack Obama, ruled to permanently block the $2.5 billion after issuing a temporary injunction in May to stop the administration’s use of the funds. The ruling stymies several construction projects in California, Arizona, and New Mexico.

Gilliam ruled in two lawsuits on Friday. The first, brought by the American Civil Liberties Union on behalf of the Sierra Club and the Southern Border Communities Coalition, came in response to Trump's national emergency declaration transferring $6.7 billion in military funds to border wall construction. Gilliam’s decision halted the use of funds meant for Defense Department counter-drug activities.

400+ miles of wall are on schedule to be completed by end of next year.. Quite a ambitious project with all of the opposition against it...Would we like a complete 2000+ wall built already ? sure...But its not as easy as a campaign promise.. Everyday we see Trump battling for us on getting the border secured.. We could count on several different ideas and solutions he's trying...

But as we know , one man can't get it all done.. and you can't go extreme like slapping 25% tariffs on Mexico right off the bat. Think ! How much support you going to get with that threat ? Not enough is the answer..

Lets hope he keeps making progress.. The 2nd term we'll see him make even more progress on this and other issues , because he won't give a shit about repercussions with the next election … Hopefully we get the congress seats back to help

A federal judge ruled on Monday that the Trump administration cannot force pharmaceutical companies to disclose the list price of their drugs in television ads, dealing a blow to one of the president’s most visible efforts to pressure drug companies to lower their prices.

Judge Amit P. Mehta, of the United States District Court in the District of Columbia, ruled that the Department of Health and Human Services exceeded its regulatory authority by seeking to require all drug-makers to include in their television commercials the list price of any drug that costs more than $35 a month. The rule was to take effect this week.

A US District judge in San Francisco on Wednesday issued a preliminary injunction to halt the Trump Administration’s new asylum policy.

Judge Jon Tigar, an Obama appointee, temporarily halted Trump’s policy banning asylum seekers who pass through another country while they are en route to the United States.
Earlier Wednesday, a DC judge declined to stop the new asylum policy from being implemented, so Obama’s activist judge stepped in as if he was elected by the American people to make decisions on immigration.

Trump boasted about the asylum win earlier Wednesday before the activist judge came in and nullified the earlier asylum victory for Trump.
Left-wing Politico reported:

In a 45-page order, Tigar found the rule ignored a pair of federal statutes that outline guidelines for barring asylum seekers who transit through a designated “safe third country” or have permanently resettled in another country.

The new regulation, he wrote, “is likely invalid because it is inconsistent with the existing asylum laws.”
Additionally, he found that the decision to enact the measure was “arbitrary and capricious.” While it purports to offer protections for migrants, the ban could potentially expose them to grave dangers as they’re forced to seek protection in Mexico or other nations before applying for asylum in the U.S., he said.

The anti-American ACLU praised judge Tigar’s decision to temporarily halt the asylum policy.

“The court recognized, as it did with the first asylum ban, that the Trump administration was attempting an unlawful end run around asylum protections enacted by Congress,” ACLU attorney Lee Gelernt said in a written statement.

This isn’t the first time that Judge Tigar has stepped in and abused his power from the bench.

In November Tigar blocked Trump’s asylum policy if the migrants entered the US through a port of entry.

“More federal judges pretending they were elected to run asylum policy,” attorney Robert Barnes said in response to the preliminary injunction issued by Tigar.
