How come there are no holidays in August?

Every other month has at least one holiday but August is bereft of any marks on the calendar.

Canadians at least have a Civic Holiday on the 4th. Someone get Congress (or Hallmark) on this now.

I say we push for the Friday before the opening weekend of college football.

Be off the day after the Thursday night opener and the Friday before the rest of the schedule gets rolling.

Maybe we can move one of the innocous holidays like Arbor Day or Flag day to August so it does not feel so naked and lonely on the calendar.

because the US is prejudiced against August. No holidays. We make kids go back to school in it, even though technically summer isn't over til Sep 20th. It's the hottest month of the year, and yet it's also one of the longest months too (31 days). Pure and simple it's an evil month and really should be eliminated from out calendar, post-haste.

Do you think anyone would notice if we just stuck like Earth Day or Arbor Day or Flag Day in August on the calendars next year. Would there be any uproars or protests?
Maybe a few would scratch their heads and go "damn Myrtle, I thought Flag Day was in June. Oh well".
I need someone to head up this covert operation. Who is brave enough to kidnap Flag Day and take it to August?
