I have yet to figure out how that is...I know in Delaware they toll you to death, but it still isn't adding up to enough to compare with paying a state tax...

How do they do it, Del, Fla. .... I think Tex.?

Its no wonder everyone wants to move to Fla with 'northern money'.

Washington - No state income taxes but high sales taxes.

Oregon - No sales taxes but high state income taxes.

Are you talking state income tax or sales tax?

If you are talking state income tax, Tennessee is one of them that doesn't have it. Our legislators tried to sneek an income tax through on the last day of session and Tenesseeans stormed the capitol building in Nashville and they did'nt get a chance to vote.
Tennessee does it with a high Sales tax. One of the highest in America, if not the highest at 9.25%. I think local govts can add another 0.5% to make a total of 9.75% in some areas.
We do not make it on property taxes and don't have property tax on anything except land (no personal property taxes --cars etc.)
I don't pay very much in property taxes compared to the rest of the country. About $1200 per year (city and county) for 2700 sq. ft. in the city.

New Jersey and Nevada? How do they compare tax wise? (I know Nevada has no state income tax, but do they charge high sales tax or high car tax the personal property). I think all taxes in New Jersey are high--but that's ONLY a GUESS.

My uncle in law"s house in Jersey is the same size as mine and he pays $7000 in property taxes.
Of course values are higher, which makes it apples and oranges, it might be all relative
