Hockey isn't a sport?

Have you ever watched a game live???
faster than any sport
harder hitting than any sport
more skill at high speed than any sport

Much respect to hockey, but in no way is it a harder hitting sport than football. Nothing in althletic competition compares to those collisons on NFL Sunday.

But the NBA is garbage. The last NBA game I ever attended was back when Grant Hill played for the Pistons and they were hosting Juwan Howard, Chris Webber at the Palace. Was so fucking bored my buddy and I left in the 3rd quarter.

David Stern has taken a great game played by arguably some of the world's greatest athletes and made it into a sham.

The only way I can see anyone liking the NBA is if they are scrotum-sucking diehards for the top players and teams that get 'all the calls' or the NBA wants to win.

i know a lot of people say the players are better and have much more talent now, but it too much 1 on 1 play and look at that great dunk i just made for the espn highlights tonite thing. it somewhat like the show espn has street ball players garbage games and the nba is fast moving to that level.would love to the see team play again and not teams putting up 20 pt in the last 2 min.college bb is great and the nba unless you are betting on it is pityful to watch now.way too many college kids leaving early for the bick bucks imo and a lot of the kids cant even shoot a foul shot but you can give them a high mark of 10 on a dunk.money is killing big time sports i will say again, no heart for the game.a players will win a championship today and will leave for another team next year.

For entertainment only....college basketball is fun to watch. Crowd is into it, players hustle up and down the court, teams play defense. In the NBA, most crowds are dead, the PA announcer is from the street in a lot of venues, very few teams play defense, very few players hustle up and down the court. All college sports are the best to watch, followed by the NHL & NFL. I love baseball, but cant watch many games anymore.

I'm sick of people claiming there isn't any defense in the nba. What are you using to base this opinion? They score more points because they are BETTER shooters, theres MORE TIME in the game, and there's a SHORTER shot clock. It's in the player's best interest to play D. They will get more money if they play D then if they don't, and we all know that this is a big motivation (I'll bet you 100 dollars you've called nba players overpaid and said they don't play D because they got money in the bank). Do you really think a college team could guard an nba team? I hope not, but according to you, college players are just ultra mega defensive super stars. If colleges really play so much more D, then how come when they come to the nba they don't just shut down kobe and lebron and lead there teams to championships? the nba is mostly people that used to play in college, but this might be news to you. Are you saying that all of your beloved college players just quit playing D and sell out in the nba?

If you like to watch fans jumping up and down, screaming during the game that's great. I personally don't think the fans make the games any better, but if you have that small a brain that's ok by me. If you like a bunch of five 6 foot white guys passing it around for 33 seconds every play, then missing a jumpshot, college is perfect for you. If you love stupid rules like 1 and 1, a joke of a three point line, and possession arrows that are put in the game just to try and cause some craziness, college basketball is a great sport. If you like the dumbest tournament format in the world, where 20 of the teams clearly don't deserve to be there and it's one and done, I'm happy for you.

But if you like the best players in the world showing there stuff, you should watch the nba.

if the nba is such a bad league why are ratings up, why are the players the most recognized and popular in the states, and world, and why does the league continue to grow globally. guess what the top selling nba jersey is in china, and it's not yao or yi. huge followings in europe(especially italy and spain) and china that the nfl cant even be compared with and you guys are saying the league is in trouble? hilarious.

basketball like soccer doesnt gel with some people because its a global sport.

Basketall players have outgrown the court.

I do not find excitement in watching a 300 pound centre bend over to dunk a basketball - where is the skill there. If tall is a skill - ok.

You need to witness a high speed hockey collision live down at ice level. It makes football look like one of those Sumo suit carnival displays.

I once took a lifetime Americn NFL fan to a hockey game (row 6) and his response was OMG- unbelievable.

Hockey continuous action - playoffs 60 minutes guarabteed.

NFL - maybe 9 minutes of action; the other time is spent watching the clock run with no action. Boring.

Um, the ratings are not up. They are in the toilet. Last year's finals were a record low 6.2. Throw in the fact that in the most recent Harris Poll asking, "If you had to choose, which ONE of these sports would you say is your favorite?", and the NBA has now dropped to sixth behind behind Pro Football, Baseball, College Football, Auto racing, and Hockey(!). HOCKEY!

There is no question that Stern is the puppermaster behind a probable Laker/Celtics Final that he is so desperate for. In addition, he is trying to milk every last dollar and game out of these playoffs, thus the ridiculous 20-1 home court edge this round.

The real tragedy is that Stern and his cronies really have pulled the wool over these NBA fans that pay good money to see these games thinking that's all on the up and up.

The NBA demographics for the over 30 crowd are not very good compared to the NFL and MLB. Why does anyone really care (not saying you GTC08) if any of our sports grow globally?

global appeal is always good for a sport. will say it again, ratings are up, players are known worldwide, anyone who says this league is dying or is in bad shape needs to take a basic course on economics.

Nobody every said that people aren't stupid! How do you explain the lowest rated finals ever last season?

Off course, they are up compared with last season.

Because SA is boring and a small market. Let common sense be your guide.

San Antonio has 1.3 million people in it, seventh largest city in the country. You could call that a small market though I guess.

Didn't think it was quite that big. Well they are still a boring team which is the major factor anyway.

and not surprisingly I am correct about that too. 30th largest metro area in the land. Hardly a big market city.

even mlb had down ratings for there world series. im telling you guys the ratings are meaningless with mlb and nba because they wont have the big ratings if the major media markets arnt in it. nfl can have the fricking cards and the jags in the super bowl and it'll still be huge because it's a one day spectacle compared to series in football and basketball.

plus football is just way bigger then baseball and basketball. and the only reason why i bring up nhl ratings is to have a good laugh.
