Wow...The Astros are a game out of first place.@)

The Astros were nine games out of first in late May.....A little more than a month ago -- before the games of June 20 -- Houston was dead last in the NL Central, six games behind first-place Milwaukee.

They awake this morning one lousy game behind the first-place Cardinals, tied with the Cubs for second place in the National League Central.
Since then the Astros have gone 19-11, including Wednesday's 4-3 defeat of the (now) first-place Cardinals with two runs in the bottom of the ninth...

The Astros had been 2-40 when trailing after eight innings. The Cardinals had been 48-1 when leading after eight....LOL

Every year since 1997, Houston has had a better record after the All-Star break than before..... In the 2004-08 seasons, the Astros' overall second-half record was second best in the NL to the Phillies'.

i'd rather see them win the central than the Cubs or STL anyday, actually i'd like to see the Reds get there, but i have always liked the Stro's.
Their BP still worries me at times.

They had a terrible spring training.....at one time they were 1-10-1

i hope this doesn't mean fox spouthwest is gonna start alternating between showing rangers and astros games again....last couple months have been good for catching rangers games on tv

Cecil may not be the best coach but u have to give him credit for this turn around...he's been hitting the right buttons....and having a players coach doesn't win championships....JMO

yes they do. i just googled. little rock about a 4 hour drive and i've lived here about 2 months now. i'm still trying to figure out if there's a more conveniant entrance to the local wal'mart.

Ed Wade was told a nearly impossible mandate last winter to keep the major league team competitive while rebuilding the minor league system......they didn't have big money to spend on free agency and were unwilling to trade what few marketable prospects they had. Against all odds, the Astros are in contention......they're in a division where every team seems to be about the same. At the end of May, they were dead in the water, nine games under .500, nine games out of first. They were a laughingstock.

That's the run the Astros are on. They're 92-70 since the 2008 All-Star Break and have won 10 of 13 and 12 of 16. They've come from behind 26 times this season in making an amazing rise from last place to second, from nine games out of first place to one.
