Curious as to why people reference Easy Goer and not Sunday Silence.

Not just this thread but I have noticed this generally speaking.

Great horse. They both were so close in talent. The best horse racing I've ever seen was between those two.

Not to worry as Frosted runs him down at the wire.

I think this Triple Crown would be much more interesting if they were to expand the 2 week layoff to 4 weeks between races. We would probably get more of the original field from the Derby in the next two races. As it stands, the Preakness field is always much smaller than the Derby field because of the two week turnaround. But the Belmont field is also smaller. But the 1.5 mile distance makes up for it. Many may not remember that the rules used to be different for the Triple Crown. You used to have to run the Derby in order to enter the Preakness, and run both to be entered in the Belmont. The elimination of that rule and the fresh horses they now enter has made it much much tougher to win the TP.

For sure. But why is Easy Goer referenced more times than not, between the two.i think EG's campaign was stronger but SS proved to be better.
Easy Goer had a ton of problems in the Derby. He got cut off badly at the beginning of that race. So did Sunday Silence. But what really cost Easy Goer was being cut off with nowhere to go coming down the stretch. Otherwise I think he would have been right there with SS. Both horses were absolute studs..

One of the best horse races I have ever seen......The track announcer says....If she wins this, she`ll be a super horse.....She`s starting to pick them off though....LOL.

The '89 Preakness is still the best that I've seen. As good as Pat Day was, I still think Easy Goer had two very mediocre rides in the Derby and Preakness. Day got caught in traffic in the Derby, so in the Preakness he started Easy Goer early with the whip and it cost him down the stretch. That's just my opinion, but you can judge for yourselves...

Easy Goer reminded me of Forego.......Forego was like a freight Train coming down the stretch.
