i see that but i look at jordan not doing it as a way of staying completely out of politics on all fronts. he referenced republicans but only in that one statement. the nba has jumped in and made statements along the way only to back off after actually being confronted about it. i see the way your looking at it but i think jordan backed out immediately before getting involved in the debate and stayed out. the players today voluntarily went into the debate and pussied out later so thats why its a difference to me.
players today brought it on themselves, they deserve criticism for it when they shy away now.
Jordan was repeatedly asked to throw his substantial clout behind many issues in his career, but always refused, probably at the direction of Nike. Same with Tiger. Both could have influenced many issues with their words and actions, but chose not to in order to "protect their brand" and maintain maximum marketability.
