this is a reason i hate pro sports these days, police and teachers should get the top play, the money players get for playing sports are just so stupid these days, but as long as fans like sheep will not protest, it will only get worst

little ckid not real bright about economics

There are literally several million Americans who are fully qualified and capable to be teachers and police officers.

There are only about 1500 people in the USA qualified to play in the NFL, less than 500 (many of them green-card European citizens) qualified to play in the NBA and less than 1000 qualified to play MLB. Each of the aforementioned industries produce multi-billions in annual revenue and this very small number of men are more than worthy of the pay they receive from team owners who themselves fully deserve the multi millions in business profits they enjoy.

Absolutely terrible. As a retired professional firefighter, I'm glad I got out relatively young. Police and Fire are a young man (or woman's) job (unless you're an administrator). Can't believe this guy was still patrolling the streets at 61. RIP. An American Hero.

A Houston police sergeant on his way to work to help those affected by Hurricane Harvey drowned after his patrol car got stuck in rain-swollen flooding.
“I am deeply saddened to announce the death of Sgt. Steve Perez,” Houston Police Chief Art Acevedo said at a press conference Tuesday. “This is an individual who was with the HPD ― Houston’s finest men and women in blue ― for 34 years.”
Perez drowned Sunday morning ― two days shy of his 61st birthday, Acevedo said. He was driving to work downtown when high water trapped him near I-45 and Hardy Toll Road, Chron.com first reported.
At least 15 other people have died in the storm. More than 3,500 people have been rescued.
“I look forward to taking this man and giving him the honors that he and his family so graciously deserve,” Acevedo said. “They know it’s going to be a while because we have some work to do ― work that he would want us to do.”
Perez leaves his wife, Cheryl, a son and a daughter.
