Hey Guys,

I'll be passing thru San Jose in mid Feb enroute to Quepos for some fishing, can anyone recommend a good hotel, close to some bars and restaurants, please?

Thanks,

I don't really know what the $$$ range is, looking for something along the lines of a Marriott or Hilton, someone at CRIS mentioned the Blue Dolphin?? He said thats where most of the gringos stay, funny.

Blue Marlin?? The Del Rey Hotel (Blue Marlin is the hotel bar). The attraction there is the number of "available" girls that hang out in the bar/casino. Not a terrible place to hang out at late nights, socially other casinos are somewhat boring in comparison. Bad place to take the kids or wife.

The Holiday Inn Aurola is walking distance from there, probably a much nicer place to actually stay.

For a decent price, I recommend Hotel Dunn Inn. My sister & brother-in-law stayed there when I got married, nice place. Just go elsewhere for beers, their bar is very expensive.

Redmond, huh? You work at Microsoft per chance? I was there 1996-2001.

Thanks Formerly and Adam,

Microsoft no, I work at SeaTac airport, tho I play softball with a couple Microsoft guys on the team. Maybe you know Mick Roberts? Anyway, thanks for the advice, no wife, just the fella's on a fishing trip, and thanks for the tip on the Del Ray, The Dunn sounds perfect. I'll see if I can find an 800# for reservations.

Holiday Inn Aurola is a decent hotel, and it's just across the small park (park Morazon) from gringo gulch - Key Largo bar, Del Rey, Colonial, etc etc etc.

Del Rey is a GREAT place to visit, but I wouldn't want to live there :)

Thanks guys,

Two years ago I left 70 lbs. of fish at the San Jose airport, I thought I might be able to bring some of it back. I'll post a thread before I leave to see if someone wants to swing by the airport for some fish, I'll have it frozen.
