Hot Rumor Announced on Houston Radio of Griffey going to Cardinals?

A Houston radio station is reporting that the Cardinals are close to swinging a trade with Cincinnati where Griffey and cash would go to Cardinals in exchange for Jason Marquis. Has anyone else heard or seen anything on this possible trade?

Haven't heard anything about it, but that makes no sense to me from the Cardinals standpoint UNLESS Marquis is free at the end of the year... this could make some sense if you don't think you can resign him at the end of the season. Cincy gets to dump Griffey's salary and St. Louis at least gets an outfielder that can help them in the stretch run.

Marquis is arbitration eligible. I may also add that St. Louis Post Dispatch is also reporting a possible trade of Jason Marquis to San Diego for Brian Giles.

GRIFFEY needs to be playing on a playoff team.

Would be good for baseball..............what a waste of PR for MLB he has been playing for Seattle and Cincy.

CBS Sportsline has same rumor. I will tell everyone that I don't know if it will be Griffey but knowing Jocketty one of these trades will get done. He never fails to get what needed and right now an of is needed. Normally he keeps trades quiet so don't know about either of these two trades but I will guarantee something gets done if not by Sunday someone will get through waivers. Count on it.

Jocketty has stated that he wants an outfielder for this year and for the future. Trade makes sense as Walker's contract comes off the books next year.

Still waiting for Cubs to make a big trade. They have more to offer than anyone.

This trade makes alot of sense for the Cards. Marquis is odd man out in the playoff rotation. Cards have the division won so Griffey would be a huge pick-up for the playoffs.

Kojak, out here they are saying Brian Giles for Marquis. Giles is a free agent and the Padres don't have a very good chance of re-signing him other than the fact he is from here.
