Horseplayers, remember to look at max payoffs

I'm a small-time harness player and have been playing at BetPhoenix. Last night I hit a $1 exacta 3/All that paid $317 at the Meadowlands. I was credited with winning $68 on my BetPhoenix account.
That's the maximum you can win on an $1 exacta.
I'm not bitching. It's spelled out in their maximum payouts. I just never thought that would be that low.
Needless to say, I won't play the horses at BetPhoenix anymore. It's a good book, but not a good horse book.

It's my fault for not checking the maximum payoffs on a book I just joined before the Kentucky Derby.
Just want to warn others because I know BetPhoenix is a popular book.
I'll still play baseball there.

Good post. Every horse player should look at the racebook rules, betting limits, maximum payouts, and caps for every track that they play. This story has been repeated many times on these forums, but we continue to get reports from players that have been capped out due to the rules of the individual sportsbook. Like anything else, buyer beware. Shop around for books that will give you the best payout for the type and size of wager you normally make. No reason whatsoever to end up settling for less.

I'm guessing he bet $33 worth of tickets on the race (101-33 = 68).

If you are getting those sh!tty odds, use twinspires dot com for horses. You get track odds.

Also look at the post time rules. Books have different times on how many minutes before post you can make a bet. Olympic for example is 2 minutes before post.

I made a bet 1:45 minutes before post... no good. Of course it won.

If you are a small player, and rebates are not a big deal for you, I would strongly suggest using one of the US based companies..YOUBET, TwinSpires or others...Not only will you have 0 problems getting paid but you will have a very easy time getting Money in as well. I know they are not avaliable in all states and that is the only drawback.
