RECOMMENDED CHOICES
The Walker Group Picks

# 6 BREWING 5/2

# 3 JOE MOOCH 2/1

# 5 DIGHTON 6/1

BREWING figures to be the wager in here. Has very good Equibase Speed Figures and has to be considered for a wager for this race. This horse obviously likes the distance, going 5 out of 28 in his races recently. Will most likely go to the lead and may never look back. JOE MOOCH - With a reliable jockey who has won at a very good 23 percent rate over the last month. This has to be one of the top picks. Is a definite contender - given the 78 speed rating from his most recent race. DIGHTON - Had one of the strongest speed figs of this group in his last contest.

# 5 TEF'S LITTLE CAT 4/1

# 9 JIA'S DESTINY 15/1

# 6 CURL 3/1

I think TEF'S LITTLE CAT is a formidable choice. Ought to come out sharp - I have liked the way this filly has moved promptly to the front end recently. CURL - Evans and Hebert have a good winning percentage together. She has a good opportunity in this race as trainer, Evans, has very solid win rate with horses going this distance.

Louisiana Downs - Race #1 - Post: 3:15pm - Maiden Special - 4.5 furlongs on the Dirt. Purse: $18,000 Class Rating: 66

Rating: 4

#4 LIGHTNING LEWIS (ML=5/2)
#5 SHARK RIVER (ML=3/1)

LIGHTNING LEWIS - This rider/trainer duo has been producing a very lucrative ROI, right at +22. Mora was aboard this gelding last race out and was impressed enough to take the animal right back. I predict an idyllic trip. Stalk the leaders, and swing by on the turn. Ran a winning race July 5th, but just couldn't conquer the victor. This gelding made his bow on July 5th and ran well to finish second at big odds. I'm looking for another big effort from him today. SHARK RIVER - This animal fits one of my favorite angles. A campaigner that has a gate workout since his last race and gets blinkers on for today's race. That signals to me that the connections are looking for improvement. I think that this shorter distance should help this colt. Taking a trip down the class ladder; has the ability to make his presence felt. Cravens moves this colt to the main track today. Look for an improvement from the most recent race on the grass.

Vulnerable Contenders: #1 COUNTY CORONER (ML=4/1), #2 THEBOYZDELIGHT (ML=4/1), #6 DOUBLE STAR (ML=9/2),

COUNTY CORONER - I'm foreseeing a lackluster attempt out of him this time. THEBOYZDELIGHT - This less than sharp equine will almost certainly be way back as this field crosses the wire. DOUBLE STAR - M/L odds of 9/2 make this thoroughbred a pass by my standards.

Top HatGUEST COMMENTARY: Winston - SHARK RIVER - The conditioner puts the 'hood' on. This fine animal should improve today with the equipment change.

STRAIGHT WAGERS:
#4 LIGHTNING LEWIS to win at post-time odds of 7/5 or better

Mountaineer Park - Race #4 - Post: 8:06pm - Maiden Claiming - 6.0 furlongs on the Dirt. Purse: $8,500 Class Rating: 61

Rating: 3

#1 MAJESTIC TANGO (ML=6/5)

MAJESTIC TANGO - Looking at today's class figure, this racer is meeting an easier field than in the last race at Belmont Park. I think this filly is ready to run a good one. She's had enough outings since the layoff and should be fit. Trying to break maiden moving from a turf race to the dirt. I think Clouston will have her in good shape for today's race.

Vulnerable Contenders: #5 HOBO'S GIRL (ML=2/1), #2 PAULSEZWHATSUPAL (ML=5/1), #6 HIGHLAND QUEEN (ML=6/1),

HOBO'S GIRL - I find it hard to wager on any mount in a short distance contest at 2/1 when she hasn't shown any positive results in sprints in the last 60 days. Tough for anyone who saw this vulnerable equine in her last race to invest in her in today's event. PAULSEZWHATSUPAL - In any race of 6 furlongs, I like to play a contender that has been on the board in short distance events lately. HIGHLAND QUEEN - This pony showed very little last time finishing fifth. Don't see any chance of any change in today's race. When checking today's Equibase class figure, she will have to earn a better fig than in the last race to battle in this dirt sprint.

STRAIGHT WAGERS:
Have to go with #1 MAJESTIC TANGO on the win end if we get at least 1/1 odds

RACE #1 - 1:00 PM
The Jonathan Kiser Novice Stakes
16½ FURLONGS NATIONAL FENCE COURSE STEEPLECHASE FOUR YEARS OLD AND UPWARD STAKES $75,000.00 PURSE

#5 SURPRISING SOUL
#2 NO WUNDER
#4 SHOW COURT
#6 MOSCATO

This race is dedicated to the memory of one Jonathan Kiser, a champion National Steeplechase Association jockey in 1997 and 1999, was recognized as one of the most talented riders to join the circuit in some time. In 1999 he won 23 races, including the Grade I Joe Aitcheson Novice Stakes at Pimlico and the Maryland Million Steeplechase at Laurel Park. He died at the age of 22 in a fall at his home. Here in this year's "Kiser," #5 SURPRISING SOUL, the pace profile leader, has hit the board in "POWER RUN FASHION" in four of his last five outings, including back-to-back-to-back "POWER RUN WINS" over the fences in his last three starts. Jockey Ross Geraghty has been in his irons on 6 previous occasions, hitting the board in 5 of those rides, winning 3 times, and is back this afternoon here at "The Spa" for his 7th ride, gunning for a "Grand Slam Win!" #2 NO WONDER, a British-bred entry, has hit the board in "POWER RUN FASHION" in each of his last three outings, including a "POWER RUN WIN" in his 2nd race back.
