At the Gate - Saturday
By Mike Dempsey

Weather knocked out racing at Aqueduct last weekend but we are back in action on Saturday with a good nine race card featuring a pair of stakes—the $100,000 Ruthless and the $125,000 Jazil.

The Ruthless drew a field of seven three-year-old fillies led by Yorkiepoo Princess (2-1), the gate to wire winner of the Furlough Stakes in her last outing on Nov. 24 in gate to wire fashion.

She faces a field with plenty of early speed and I am going to go with the Kiaran McLaughlin trained Bride Street, who was a good looking maiden winner in her debut.

The Jazil is for four-year-olds and upward at one mile and 70 yards on the inner track with a field of six lining up.

Royal Posse is going for his fifth consecutive victory and has been one of the best claims we have seen in recent years.

Rudy Rodriguez claimed him for just $20,000 in May of 2015 and he has won seven stakes for the barn and has landed in the exacta in all 14 starts for the trainer.

However, he is 0 for 6 on the inner track in his career at the Big A so I’ll take a stab we can beat him with Bay of Plenty, who is better than he showed last out when he faded badly to finish sixth in the Queen’s County.

We have a 12-race card at Gulfstream park on Saturday that kicks off at noon eastern and features three graded stakes—the $150,000 Marshua’s River (G3), $200,000 Ft. Lauderdale (G2) and the $150,000 Hal’s Hope (G3).

My Best Plays Report for Saturday includes my 11 strongest plays from Aqueduct and Gulfstream Park.

Here is the opening race from Gulfstream Park to get the day off to a good start:

GP Race 1 Clm $6,250 (12:00 ET)
#3 Shere Khan 9-2
#1 Stableford 7-2
#6 Take Time to Pray 2-1
#9 Starship Apache 6-1

Analysis: Shere Khan tracked the early pace from the outside and weakened to finish fourth last out for this tag over a wet track that was kind to inside speed that day. The gelding rallied for third two back over another racing strip that was playing to inside speed. He should get some pace and could run them down if he gets a fairer racing surface today.

Stableford exits the same race as our top pick and he tracked the early pace and could not get by the winner late, beaten a half-length. He looks headed in the right direction as he makes his third start off the claim by the Rodriguez barn. He was taken three back out of a runner up finish at this level. He does not need to move forward much off his last effort to be in the mix here.

Wagering
WIN: #3 to win at 7-2 or better.
EX: 1,3 / 1,3,6,9
TRI: 1,3 / 1,3,6,9 / 1,2,3,6,9

Today’s Featured Race of the Day from Aqueduct:

AQU Race 5 The Jazil (2:20 ET)
#4 Bay of Plenty 5-2
#3 Royal Posse 7-5
#6 Doyouknowsomething 7-2
#2 Sunny Ridge 6-1

Analysis: Bay of Plenty pressed the early pace and faded to finish a well beaten sixth last out in the Queen's County over a wet track here last out. He came back off the bench with a couple of solid efforts on turf in runner up finishes. He broke his maiden over the inner track here and is a stakes winner on dirt, taking the restricted Alydar in the summer of '15 at the Spa. His last was just too bad to believe and looking for him to give a much better account of himself in this spot for the McLaughlin barn.

Royal Posse won the Claiming Crown Jewel last out for his fourth win in a row. The RRod barn claimed this guy for just $20,000 and he has not missed an exacta finish since. However, he is 0 for 6 on the inner track in his career and is going to be a very light price in this spot.
Race Rating: $$
Wagering
WIN: #4 to win at 2-1 or better.
EX: 3,4 / 3,4,6
TRI: no play

Today’s Featured Race of the Day from Gulfstream Park:

GP Race 11 The Hal's Hope G3 (5:05 ET)
#2 Tommy Macho 9-2
#8 Mr. Jordan 5-2
#3 Bird Song 6-1
#5 Ami's Flatter 8-1

Analysis: Tommy Macho won the Fred Hooper (G3) over the main track here at a mile last February and earned a career top speed figure in a good looking effort, drawing away to win by 3 ¾ lengths. An eight-month layoff followed and he returns in a tough spot, checking in fifth in the Kelso Handicap (G2) and then dueled for the early lead and weakened to finish fourth in the Richard W. Small at Laurel Park at nine furlongs. He has won at nine furlongs but the cut back here to a one turn mile should suit this guy. Pletcher has been on a nice roll at the meeting, hitting at a 33% clip overall. The five-year-old reunites with Saez who was aboard for his Hooper win.

Mr. Jordan returns off a two-month break after winning the Millions Classic Preview at GP West in a sharp effort. He really did not beat much in that outing, five coming back run again and the best finish among them was a fourth. Plesa elected to skip the Sunshine Millions Classic with this guy as stablemate Awesome Slew is being pointed to the race. The gelding landed in the money in eight of his nine starts last year, winning his last pair, but is 0 for 5 over the main track here including a fifth in this race last year, but he did come back a week later to earn a career top speed fig in a runner up finish in the Sunshine Millions Classic. He fits with his best but may end up a light price.

Bird Song took the field gate to wire to beat Alw-2 optional claimers last out at Churchill Downs earning a career top speed fig at 6-5. His lone stakes try came in the King’s Bishop (G1) at the Spa going seven furlongs last August where he was not a threat in an eighth-place finish. The colt has been working sharply at Palm Meadows since his last start and should be in the mix early in this spot. There is some other speed in here and this guy could get a good trip sitting just off the pace.

Wagering
WIN: #2 to win at 7-2 or better.
EX: 2,8 / 2,3,5,8
TRI: 2,8 / 2,3,5,8 / 2,3,5,7,8

Live Longshots:
These are price plays for exotic players looking to find a couple of extra contenders to use in their trifecta and superfecta wagers. Or for those with smaller bankrolls, you might want to get in a small win-place wager.

Aqueduct
R2: #4 The Two Nancy’s 12-1
R2: #6 Proud Lily 12-1
R3: #3 Treatherlikeastar 15-1
R6: #3 Nigel’s Destiny 10-1
R7: #12 Devilish Grin 10-1
R7: #9 No Entiendo 8-1
R8: #1 Little Popsie 8-1
R9: #4 Grassmiss 10-1

Good luck today!

# 2 GAIUS CRASTINUS 7/1
# 5 ONE MORE MIRACLE 9/5
# 3 UF FAST FEELIN 7/1

The choice today is GAIUS CRASTINUS and is a very good value-based bet given the 7/1 line. Had one of the top TrackMaster Speed Ratings of the field of horses in his last contest. I'd recommend using in your wagers. ONE MORE MIRACLE - A great class horse shouldn't be be overlooked. With an avg class figure of 88 all signs say this is the one to beat. Could best this field, just look at the speed rating - 79 - from his most recent effort. UF FAST FEELIN - Hard to put finger on it, but back him in this one.

# 3 YOUWILLWISHYOUHAD 3/1
# 5 UPFRONT COUNTRYBOY 5/1
# 2 FIRECRACKER FREDDY 6/1

YOUWILLWISHYOUHAD will not be denied the win for this one. This contender looks very good. Take a good look at the 86 average speed rating. The 87 avg class stat may give this gelding a distinct advantage in the bunch. Should be in the hunt again in here, looking to improve that already high lifetime winning stat. UPFRONT COUNTRYBOY - Could provide us a trip to the winner's circle based on very good recent TrackMaster speed figs - earning an avg of 86. The 87 average class rating may give this gelding a distinct edge in the group of animals. FIRECRACKER FREDDY - With a really strong 82 TrackMaster Speed Rating last time out, will most definitely be a factor in this race. Horse has one of the most competitive win statistics in the bunch and that could be the deciding factor when they cross the wire.

RECOMMENDED*CHOICES

# 7 EYESA FAMOUS EAGLE 3/1

# 10 EASILY BONO 8/1

# 12 CORONAS BOY 6/1

EYESA FAMOUS EAGLE looks like the wager in here. His 93 average has this gelding with among the top Speed Figures in this contest. The speed rating of 103 from his last affair looks respectable in here. The average Equibase class rating of 93 makes this horse difficult to beat. EASILY BONO - Roman has one of the best winning percentages in this field with entries running at this distance and surface. Will likely be one of the leaders of the group going into the midpoint of the competition. CORONAS BOY - Horses who have been prepared to race at this distance and surface by Orona have shown very solid results lately. The speed figure of 98 from his latest contest looks formidable in here

# 14 KITTEN'S MATRIARCH 5/2

# 3 DIVINE FRIENDS 12/1

# 11 TENACIOUS SALLY 8/1

My pick in this contest is KITTEN'S MATRIARCH. Lezcano will almost certainly be able to get this filly to break out early here. Is a solid choice - given the 65 speed rating from her most recent race. DIVINE FRIENDS - The speed rating of 55 from her most recent affair looks formidable in here. Shows solid Equibase Speed Figures on average overall when compared with the rest of this group. TENACIOUS SALLY - Garnered a reliable speed figure in the most recent race. Can run another good one in this affair.

Gulfstream Park - Race #1 - Post: 12:00pm - Claiming - 6.0 furlongs on the Dirt. Purse: $16,000 Class Rating: 93

Rating:

#4 TRICKY CALL (ML=5/1)

TRICKY CALL - Don't often see a profitable ROI like +26. This jock/handler duo has done well together over the last year. All systems look good for this gelding. Last morning work, 2nd fastest of the day, shows he's fit and ready. Taking a trip down the ladder based on class rating points; has the power to make his presence felt.

Vulnerable Contenders: #6 TAKE TIME TO PRAY (ML=2/1), #1 STABLEFORD (GB) (ML=7/2), #3 SHERE KHAN (ML=9/2),

TAKE TIME TO PRAY - I don't normally play a morning-line favorite that hasn't been to the track in the last few weeks. STABLEFORD (GB) - Pace is so influential, and this early speedball is going to have an early battle on his hands. SHERE KHAN - Registered a common speed fig last out in a $6,250 Claiming race on Jan 4th. Not probable to see an improved performance off of that figure.

Have to go with #4 TRICKY CALL on the win end if we get at least 1/1 odds

Parx Racing - Race #1 - Post: 12:25pm - Maiden Special - 6.0 furlongs on the Dirt. Purse: $50,000 Class Rating: 82

Rating:

#2 FREEMARK (ML=3/1)
#1 B C F'S OUTRAGEOUS (ML=5/1)

FREEMARK - I definitely see portentous signs for this mount right here. B C F'S OUTRAGEOUS - The rider and conditioner combination have a favorable return on investment when they combine forces. This gelding surprised everybody by running second Nov 13th. Looking at today's class rating, this thoroughbred is encountering an easier bunch than last time out at Parx Racing. I like this gelding. Has the highest earnings per race in here today.

Vulnerable Contenders: #3 DARK AS MIDNIGHT (ML=2/1), #7 I AIN'T KITTEN (ML=7/2), #4 WAR AT SUNRISE (ML=8/1),

DARK AS MIDNIGHT - Don't think this less than sharp equine is worth 2/1 in this event. I AIN'T KITTEN - Not probable for this one to make an impact with no recent good showings in a short distance race. WAR AT SUNRISE - Just cannot play this questionable contender. Didn't show me anything positive last time out or on December 4th. The speed rating in the last race doesn't fit very well in this affair when I look at the class rating of today's event. Mark this horse as a vulnerable competitor.

#2 FREEMARK is going to be the play if we are getting 7/5 or better

RACE #5 - AQUEDUCT - 2:17 PM EASTERN POST

The Jazil Stakes

8.3 FURLONGS WINTERIZED INNER DIRT TRACK FOUR YEARS OLD AND UPWARD STAKES $125,000.00 PURSE

#3 ROYAL POSSE
#6 DOYOUKNOWSOMETHING
#4 BAY OF PLENTY
#2 SUNNY RIDGE

The race honors the career of Jazil, who finished a "dead heat fourth" in the 2006 Kentucky Derby, but went on to win that year's Belmont Stakes. Here in just the 3rd running of this stakes test, #3 ROYAL POSSE takes a class drop (-2) to enter this stakes test, and has hit the board in "POWER RUN FASHION" in each of his last five starts, and this recent streak of racing consistency includes "POWER RUN WINS" in each of his last four starts! Jockey Irad Ortiz has been in his irons on 6 previous occasions, hitting the board in each, winning four times, and is back this afternoon here at "The Big-A" for his 7th ride, gunning for a 5th "Circle Trip." #6 DOYOUKNOWSOMETHING has also hit the board in "POWER RUN FASHION" in each of his last five outings, winning in both his last start, as well as in his 4th race back.

MEET STATS: 70 - 281 / $428.30 BEST BETS: 11 - 26 / $39.10

SPOT PLAYS: 8 - 25 / $38.20

Best Bet: DOVUTO HANOVER (7th)

Spot Play: JUSTICE JET (2nd)

Race 1

(5) MUCH ADOO couldn't chase down a class-dropping leader last week but she gets to come right back in the same class and she should be tough in here. (3) LIGHTS GO OUT could be more prominent early with the driver change here; using. (6) KISS ME OR NOT has been producing good late speed. She could upset here if she is close enough turning home. (1) MISS COCO LUCK is always around the money. She should share here again.

Race 2

(8) JUSTICE JET was too far back and got going too late last time. Maybe he can beat a couple off the gate here from the improved post which could make all the difference. (1) HLDONTGHTTOYURDRMS has been in great form out of town and these aren't that much tougher; using. (2) KINETIC KING rarely wins, but he is in good form now and he should make the ticket here. (7) CHARLIE IS A JOKER got no breathers last time when racing in the slop. His race two back is a better indicator of what he can do in this class.

Race 3

(6) NICKLE BAG could get a contested early pace to chase here; slight nod. (1) ALEXAS JACKPOT is in top form and he is sure to be prominent throughout here. (3) MODERN LEGEND couldn't sustain a first-over bid last week. He will be looking for a live helmet to follow here and if he finds one, he could take this. (5) PRESCOTTS HOPE continues to take smaller shares and he should do so here as well.

Race 4

(4) NATURESCAPE closed well in his comeback race now he faces a field where he fits better. Expect early aggression this time. (3) SIR GALAHAD couldn't keep up in a wicked fast mile at Flamboro last time. He should rebound with a better effort here. (10) DRAGON STRIKES is worth a look at a price for vertical plays as he will be passing horses late. (9) GOOD FRIDAY THREE is in the best form he has been in many months. He's another to consider at a square price here.

Race 5

(3) DREAMY FELLA should get a solid pace to track here; price play. (4) YORK SEELSTER provided an instant return for Allard off the claim and he comes right back in the same class here; using. (6) SHADOW PLACE was a predictable winner a class lower and he should be a contender vs. these, too. (1) SENIOR MARKET brings solid form with him from out of town and he can take a slice off a following trip near the front here.

Race 6

(3) LISVINNIE goes for Allard off the claim here right back in for the same tag. Expect an early move from Jamieson here. (2) SHOCK N ROCK was a winner at a big price last time he raced for a tag; using. (4) MUSSELSFRMBRUSSELS was taken by Auciello last start and he should get rolled early here, which is when he does his best. (5) PANEDICTINE can pass a few of these late and fill one of the bottom rungs of the exotics.

Race 7

(3) DOVUTO HANOVER takes a big drop here making his second start off a break; top call. (4) J JS DELIVERY was out the route last week which destroyed his chances. A better trip makes him a contender here. (2) UF BETTORS HANOVER will be closing late as is his custom. Keep him in mind for exacta/tri bets. (1) NEWBIE should last longer here leaving from the inside.

Race 8

(2) DOMETHATAGAIN drops from the top class here to face much easier. He will be tough to beat. (8) VEGAS ROCKS was a strong second two back when he raced in this class. He should be a threat here. (1) THREE OF CLUBS was nailed late by a tripped-out rival last time. He can stick around for a good share here, too. (7) SPORTSMANSHIP has been racing great out of town and he is one to consider for vertical wagers here.

Race 9

(5) WEATHERLY faces much easier here which should mean he will be put into the race earlier; top call. (1) ER ZACH ATTACK had good speed early and late when second to a class-dropper last week. He could take this if provided with a good trip, but notice the 14 slices vs. only four wins in his past 33 starts. (4) DIALAMARA drops slightly off an even effort. He's another in with a decent chance here. (8) DARCEE N will be closing for a smaller share again.

Race 10

(7) THE REV raced evenly vs. better last week. Expect him to be blasting early this time. (8) ASAP HANOVER is another that drops slightly who will likely be looking for a spot near the front at the start this time; using. (1) REEL should get a much better trip starting on the pylons this time. Keep him in mind when constructing Pick 4 tickets. (6) HALF A BILLION will be passing many of these late for a smaller share.

Race 11

(8) TRASHYTONGUETALKER got hung out to dry in the third 1/4 last week but he gamely hung in to the end. A better trip makes him a major player here. (5) SENIOR K is in the best form of his life now and he should be prominent throughout here. (10) ALWAYS A HOTSHOT took advantage of a major pace battle last week and rolled by late for the win. He is capable of being more forwardly-placed and is a contender here despite the post. (2) ARTFUL BLISS moves up off a perfect trip win; minor share predicted. (1) FLAHERTY should fit better here and he can better this prediction.

Meadowlands: Saturday 1/14 Analysis

Race 1 - $30,000 Guaranteed Pick Five Pool ($10,000 Carryover)

Race 3 - $25,000 Guaranteed Pick Four Pool

Race 7 - $50,000 Guaranteed Pick Four Pool

MEET STATS: 79 - 257 / $407.20 (-$106.80)

BEST BETS: 10 - 21 / $38.80 (-$3.20)

Best Bet: NEVER EVER CLEVER (2nd)

Spot Play: FLYING COWBOY (3rd)

Race 1

This is a very competitive opener where any of the octet could score given the right scenario. (7) LEGION OF BOOM comes off a very sharp score and seems to have turned the corner in recent weeks; slight edge. (5) JACKSON BRADY has a distinct advantage with no early speed to his inside and a clear shot at the top. He should be sitting no worse than second with a bit chance of scoring his second straight. (3) WHATAORSE is more of a sneaky horse that needs to get the right setup to win, but the price should be favorable.

Race 2

(2) NEVER EVER CLEVER took on better and raced reasonably well considering it was her first start in four weeks. The class drop and favorable post should result in a picture at the end of the mile. (7) WINEMASTER HANOVER raced well last week and shouldn’t lose a step for new connections tonight. (9) NOWUCIT NOWUDONT clearly has a shot, but he is hurt by the bad draw and the early speed of #7 to his inside.

Race 3

(6) FLYING COWBOY comes off an awful line on paper and that means we’ll get a very healthy price on Saturday if I’m right. This guy had absolutely no chance in his last mile as he was backed out to last by a gapper and probably needed the mile anyway after four weeks on the bench. Gelding double-drops this week and can surprise. (1) MY SPIRIT SOARS went winless in 2016 but certainly seems to be in great spot to start out the year. I think we’ll see a solid showing. (4) THE FIRE WITHIN was scratched from a December 16 start and has wound up missing more than five weeks of action; huge question marks here. (8) HOLYWOOD SIGN A comes off a decent showing and should be a factor at some point in the mile.

Race 4

(2) BLATANTLY BEST gets some meaningful class relief and a great post to work with this week. (10) SANTANNA STAR takes the same step down the condition ladder and has the early speed to take this field gate to wire. (3) REGULUS N is another following the same class-dropper trend. He really wasn’t awful last time out despite finishing eighth and wouldn’t be a complete shock for a barn that popped with one last week. (6) STOLEN GLIMPSE raced better on the mile track while coming up short late.

Race 5

(7) J EAGLE FEATHER makes his last start before getting hammered down at the sale on Monday. He turned in a decent even mile in his first start since July and I’m expecting a more aggressive showing now to attempt to boost his sale price. (4) ROCKIN ROBERT was super last Saturday; clear threat. (8) GRAVELSINMYTRAVEL finished well with no shot when last seen on the track. He is a clear contender here. (1) SPEED AGAIN has inside speed and should make some early noise, perhaps even last the mile.

Race 6

I’m somewhat up in the air on this race as I have questions on many of the horses in the field. Ultimately I’m going to roll the dice with the speedy (9) CALVIN B and hope he shows up with a top effort. If by some chance he doesn’t offer at least 7-2, I’ll look elsewhere. (1) K-LEES SHAKENBAKE is the clear favorite on paper, but I’m concerned because he was caught from behind each of the last two weeks and that doesn’t happen when he is right. (6) STATESMAN N looks good on paper if you toss the ‘tour of the track’ mile from post nine last time. He’s in the sale Monday and should be live. (3) DURANT was spectacular last Saturday. Can he do it again?

Race 7

(1) ALEXIE MATTOSIE reunites with Brett Miller tonight and gets my narrow call in a formfull field. (4) ELRAMA N raced five times in December and never finished worse than second or lost by more than a half-length; must use. (3) THE ROCK comes off a no chance mile from post eight at Yonkers and his previous mile was solid. (8) PARNU HANOVER looked very good in victory last week but faces tougher now.

Race 8

(4) FAN OF TERROR finished willingly from the back in a higher class, but many of these also come out of that race. The bottom line is that he looks as good as any in this field and should be sharp in his last race for these connections. (6) ONTARIO SUCCESS only needs a reasonable trip to be a big factor and should have a clear run at the front early. (8) TITUS SEELSTER flashed speed but came up a bit short last time. Vinnie Ginsburg did choose this guy over my top pick. (3) DREAMLANDS ART raced well for Drew Monti last time.

Race 9

(1) CENTURY CHURCHILL jumped it off in his first attempt for this barn. I’m going to give him one more chance. (3) PICKWICK threw in a clunker out of nowhere last week; Brett Miller is back now. (2) MAAJAACKOBE is the fastest horse in the race if he shows up. At the very least his presence could help the inside horses as others might not leave the gate from the outside. (4) DASH OF DANGER has a chance to rally by them late if things go his way.

Race 10

(6) DANCINGWITHDELIGHT shipped into the Meadowlands off consecutive victories but was up the track last time. I’m tossing his most recent performance because he seems to like the front and had no chance of getting there versus a runaway on the lead winner. (1) MR BLISSFULL & (2) LE GAMBE are both sharp enough to win and well drawn to the inside.

Race 11

(3) RING WARRIOR was a very impressive winner last Saturday and should be able to handle the bump up the class ladder. (1) MAJOR BUBBLES N should push away from the cones and have every chance to win. (2) CITY PIE certainly faces a sharper group this week but has the ability to step up. (6) AUTOBIOGRAPHICAL gets an interesting barn change.

Race 12

(4) VICTORYDAZE WILWIN has displayed early speed in all of his recent starts at this level and I don’t see any impediments for him making the front tonight. (5) ONE MORE MIRACLE gets a driver change to Callahan and due to lack of other obvious contenders, he’ll almost certainly be the favorite. (2) GAIUS CRASTINUS qualified back OK; maybe. (9) RELENTLESS DREAMER can rally for a share from a tough post.

Race 13

(4) WHATAGAMBLE doesn’t have much big track experience, which is concerning, but this seems like a good spot. Mike Watson trainee picks up Corey Callahan and can step up. (5) DRUNKEN TERROR looks like the favorite by default. He’s been getting outkicked way too often lately. (8) WORKANDPLAYHARD has some early speed in a questionable field without much zip; maybe. (6) MAJO JUST DO IT reunites with Miller, who scored with him two starts back.

BEST BETS: 1 - 2 / $6.60

Best Bet: SNAP TO IT A (2nd)

Spot Play: DYNAMIC YOUTH (10th)

Race 1

(4) LORD OF MISRULE recently added Lasix and returns locally at a much-reduced level; gelding does have some speed and Dube could get aggressive early with him. (2) ESCAPE THE NEWS is another who's been facing better recently. (1) ELWELL has hinted at serious ability and was a winner two back at The Meadowlands in 1:50 2/5.

Race 2

(4) SNAP TO IT A returns to Yonkers for Bamond and was a winner when last at this level; Bartlett's choice of three. (1) BETTERLATETHNNEVER has raced well in his four starts off the Allard claim and he draws best; threat. (6) GHOST PINE should be a speed threat in here.

Race 3

(4) LAWGIVER HANOVER was empty last week at The Meadowlands but that was likely a needed start; Vallee charge returns to Yonkers and fits nicely at this level. (7) PANSFORMATIVE hung last out but prior efforts were solid. (2) TWIN B SPEEDO doesn't win all that often but he draws well in this soft group.

Race 4

(2) CHOCOLATE CRACKERS wasn't all that bad last out for his new barn, holding for a board spot after an uncovered journey; he should be in line for a live trip from this spot. (1) OUTRAGEOUS ART hasn't been all that sharp but he's capable of blowing the doors off this group. (3) CHEYENNE SEEBER should be saving ground and can shake free with late pace.

Race 5

(4) MOONLITEONTHEBEACH was a decent trip-sitting second last week and the Bamond trainee can certainly build off that effort. (6) NATIONAL SEELSTER doesn't always finish but he has good early speed which should set him up nicely. (1) KILLER MARTINI is still looking for the winning level but he does draw best; include.

Race 6

(5) LIMELIGHT BEACH showed a nice change of tactics last out at The Meadowlands closing well from off the pace; Burke millionaire seems best here and should be sent to the front. (2) ROLAND N ROCK has been second best in his last four, all solid efforts. (3) SOMEWHERE FANCY did win in his 2016 finale and could land a share here.

Race 7

(6) SOMEWHERE IN L A has now taken two straight for the Banca barn and he looks best here despite having to move to an outside post. (3) IN THE HUDDLE was abused early and understandably tired chasing the top choice last week; he can be forwardly placed again. (2) BULLET BOB is always a speed threat and he can be set up nicely if he can step over the rail horse.

Race 8

(5) DOCTOR BUTCH hasn't been at his best recently with a number a failed speed efforts but he's the best here class-wise and should be followed. (3) ALBERTO CONTADOR N is razor-sharp now and has a nice history at Yonkers. (1) TALK SHOW makes his 4-year-old debut facing more established stock but he had plenty of pace in that qualifier.

Race 9

(2) RICIMER A never mounted a serious charge last week but it was a rated pace he was chasing and he did hold for a board spot; another chance. (6) WESTERN ROCKSTAR A returns off a freshening but he's proven to be a bit camera-shy. (1) WINDSUN STETSON seems fast enough to hold his position and land a share.

Race 10

(5) DYNAMIC YOUTH has been super in all recent efforts moving up the class ladder; Cito, Jr. trainee has a ton of back class and should offer the best price of the contenders. (2) LUCAN HANOVER returns locally for the live Andrew Harris barn and will be prominent throughout. (4) BETTOR'S EDGE makes his debut for new connections; tough to predict what will happen.
