I came out fast and was chip leader in the 1st 5 hands. I understand that bad beats happen. But come the fuck on.

exactly - I heard an interview with some pro recently (maybe it was Barry Greenstein) who said if they kept a "slugging pct" type score for tourney winners it would interesting

e.g.
win tourney = home run
final table = triple
(forgot the example for a double)
in the money = single

his point was that casinos/wpt/wsop would never ever do this because they want to perpetuate the myth that tournies are easy. If tournies were scored as he described above with everyone hitting at an amazingly low pct people would likely shy away from the live tournies altogether

Great point. If you remember where you saw/heard that interview, please post it.

Thanks!

I just started playing on-line and I am in the money about 16% of my entries and my ROI is about 40%. I see players ROI much higher than that, but most players have no ROI as they put up more than they win.

So it seems to me if you can consistently play better than 80% of the other entries you win money in tournies, and that is not that hard. You need to not only be in the money but get real close or win to get the big pay-offs. (<)<

You can win long term at tournies, no doubt. But luck plays a MUCH larger factor in tournies than in cash games.
