Really really frustrating day. Had a real good shot at a 5-1 day, but neither Arkansas, or Wright St could hold on to late leads. Oh well, just have to put that day behind me and go to work on tomorrow's card (which I really like)
Simply think the Trojans are a much stronger team. Mizzou's strength is in their frontcourt with Leo Lyons, and DeMarre Carrol, but they will be neutralized by one of the best forwards in the country Taj Gibson. Mike Anderson is a Norm Richardson disciple and uses the same 40 minutes of hell full court press style of defense. That shouldn't be a problem b/c Daniel Hackett another very quietly extremely good point guard will be able to take care of the ball, and help control the tempo of the game. Tim Floyd teams always are known for digging in on defense and holding teams to low fg%, and low scoring. In an enviornment such as they will be playing today that is the type of team I would want to back. USC didn't plan on playing in this game when the schedule was made, and I was interested to see how they handled yesterday's game, but they man handled Chattanooga from the opening tip, out rebounding them by 20 or so. USC is a very good team, they are balanced with good guard play, and solid frontcourt play. They know their identity. They know they will win ball games by playing strong defense, and rebounding. Tim Floyd is an excellent coach, and he has the players to make some noise. This is a very talented team that knows what they need to do to get a win, and this should hold true today. To come back 1-2 from Puerto Rico would be a terrible blow to a season that holds some promise. I expect a focused outing and they salvage their trip
Kind of surprised at this number?? Was expecting the Aggies to be at least 5 point favorites for their home opener. Fact is this team is much more talented than last season, and they have performed that way so far. They trailed for almost every minute in 3 games in Aimes Iowa, although they went 1-2, and then fought tooth and nail in Fayetville against Arkansas of the SEC. This team has already tested themselves playing 3 tough opponents thus far. Portland by all accounts could be the weakest team they have faced to date. Although their early season upset win over Washington I still don't think they will be that good this season. They are a young, inexperienced team that has not proved they can win consistently, especially on the road. The lack of a true point guard should hold their progress back a good deal. Ravio is more of a shooting guard, that is forced to play the point. Portland also lacks athleticism, which could be an issue against a very tall UC Davis team. The Aggies are a time on the rise, and despite the 1-3 record you can see that this team is much improved. Their all league star Mark Payne has not even got it going yet this year. I expect playing at home should get him on track, and get the Aggies a win, and head them in the right direction
