Oklahoma +1

I have the utmost respect for Purdue, Matt Painter, and they way they play basketball. They get after you defensively. They know that's how their going to win basketball games, go out there, and do it. However as Painter himself said teams that rebound well, and can handle their defensive pressure are the teams that will give them the most problems. He basically just said Oklahoma is the team that will beat them. I agree with him. Led by Blake Griffin, the nation's leading rebounder, and Austin Johnson, the quiet, but steady point guard, the Sooners have the exact weapons to take down the Boilers. While Griffin, will carry the load, the key to the game will be the ability of Austin Johnson, the OU point guard to handle the Purdue pressure defense. The veteran point guard led the team last year with better than a 2:1 assist to turnover ratio, and is even better this season. In fact in 73 minutes of play the past 2 games against Garden Webb, and UAB Johnson has not turned the ball over, and has had 9 assists. If Johnson can play anywhere at that level the Sooners should be able to roll tomorrow. OU's guards are actually pretty good at taking care of the ball, Griffin, and the front court are the ones that turn it over if they do. Now when Johnson is handling the pressure defense, the other major factor Blake Griffin will be taking care of the rebounding. Purdue has not out rebounded 1 single opponent this season, not ONE. They have played the likes of Detroit, Loyola Chicago, E. Mich, Coppin St, and have yet to out rebound a sinlge one of them. That is not good news since they are facing an Oklahoma team who has pretty much beat up every opponent on the glass by a wide margin. I ave said it countless times the ability to limit your opponents shots, and in turn give yourself extra shots is the recipe to success. Just think about it, by not turning the ball over (Johnson), and holding a large rebound advantage (Griffin bro's) you will almost certainly take more shots than your opponent. The more shots you take, the better the chance it going in. Numbers don't lie. If you get 7-10 more shots up a game than the team your playing that should make a difference, especially since both teams are so evenly matched. Blake, and Tyler Griffin should control the low post, and when teams sag down on Griffin like they were doing last night having a shooter like Tony Crocker with the ability to knock down big 3 pointer after big 3 pointer will only make the Sooners that much better. I think the ability of Austin Johnson to take care of the ball, and the Griffin brothers to rebound the ball should be enough to give the Sooners a big win tomorrow.

don't be.
they are getting better every game.
The first 2 losses were bad matchups.
They were expected to lose to North Carolina.

I thought VMI would be a tough game for UK. VMI leads the nation in scoring and if they spread you out for the drive and kick. UK struggles with teams like this.
Patterson only shot the ball 6 times in that game. They are looking for Patterson more now and the are becoming a lot better team.

They should get 20+ wins this year. They started poorly and people are writing them off. In the beginning of the year, the experts were saying they could be a sleeper team.

Their defense has improved every game. This will be one of the best defensive units at the end of the year. That is what Billy focuses on.

I think this is a great matchup for UK.
Here are the two things that scare me and will determine the game.
1. Turnovers.
If Porter and Liggins can protect the ball ... UK wins. The problem is they have not been able to do that this year very well. Porter has been a little better, but Liggins is more playing time and is clearly the better player.
2. Time of game
Remember this game is at midnight for UK. I am sure they won't be tired because college kids stay up this late all the time. Gillespie likes to have a hard practice before each game. Not sure why, but he does. Will they be drained around game time?

Overall ... I think Meeks comes out and shoots well and UK wants to make a statement that they don't suck. They are not a great team, but they are a decent team that should cover this spread.

Best of luck on whoever you choose.

Here are my records in playing UK games:
Football: 29-3 (recorded)
Basketball: 51-20 (recorded)

Damn, we're missing out on value when we lock these in early.

Like you said, Sonny, let's hope the extra point doesn't screw us over! :smoking:

Took Oklahoma ML +110 for 2 units. Anytime I can get plus value with Griffin I will take it. I also like Arizona St. -1 vs. Baylor.
