Guardian has a free contest available to all customers. No entry fee. It is $2,500, split between the winners, if you have the most correct wins. Basically, you just have to pick the SU winner of the game.

I figure I'll just pick every favorite to win and maybe one of these years every favorite will sweep the board SU.

Well, today is the day. Every favorite won SU today.

I am not sure which team I selected in the Tampa game, but if the Panthers were a 1 pt favorite on Thursday or Friday when I made my selections I am perfect so far. With a pending play on tonight's game, but there still, since the favorite has moved from Phil -1 to Wash -3, I am not even sure which team I selected.

So I don't even know who to root for in tonight's game. But I have a great chance of winning $2,500 from Guardian. I am in a weekly contest sponsored by WWTS across the street and so far I don't think anyone has picked all favorites. For whatever reason, when people pick games they don't just pick the favorites.

What's even weirder is, this is the very first time I've ever entered the contest (even though I've been with them for years).

Haven't heard from you in a while BWE. I hope you haven't been fading Phil because I think he's doing well. You still think he's giving out the wrong sides on purpose?

Hitman,

It is weird. Phil Steele ALWAYS wins weeknight college ball. I shouldn't say ALWAYS, but it seems like over the last several years he has done nothing but brag and brag on the comp tapes about the winner in last night's college ESPN game.

Well, I was playing $2K a play with Millennium, which is where you always get the best line on his plays. I started out going 2-1 with weeknight college ball. Then he rattled off SIX LOSERS in a row. I am thinking to myself "Those cocksuckers know I'm calling in to play large money so they are trying to zero my bankroll." Anyhow, after the sixth loser, I decided to actually fade his pick...something I've never done in my life. Sure enough, that night the losing streak was broken. Phil Steele and me are oil and water, I think. The first year I ever signed up as an executive club member the sonuvabitch had his WORST college football season in 21 years. I have played his PowerSweep College 4* religiously every year for the last four years and that play simply went 23-30 so after stomaching all that I decided to stop betting on that play this season. Guess what? The Power Sweep College 4* Key selection is FUCKING 9-1 this season.

Well, since I've been following this guy, I don't think I've ever seen him win big in the colleges and in the pros at the same time, unless you count last year's college as winning, which was barely over juice at 39-33. This season, he is winning nicely in college. Official Late Phone Star Rated Plays in College are 35-23 (60%), which is by far the best college season he's had since I started following the guy. I don't know how he did in the pros today, but through last Sunday he had not had a winning Sunday this season. Best Sunday was a 1-1-1 performance and there were a couple of O-fer's.

I still say Phil Steele can handicap circles around most guys but common sense says that he can't just win and win and win or Millennium would go broke.

But a call to his picks-for-sale phone line brings word that, as always, Phil Steele is knocking 'em dead.

Chuck,

I know you think the guy can't handicap. His College Game of the Year is 19-5 the last 24 years. I find it hard to believe that a guy with .500 accuracy could post a record that solid on his GOY.

Obviously, the guy can handicap.

But doesn't it make sense that if a handicapper nailed .57% across the board with all of his selections, the sportsbooks would simply go broke? Especially when that someone is widely known as Phil Steele?

I believe the guy is a great handicapper. The problem is, trying to figure out where he is trying to win and where he is trying to lose. I believe he is trying to win in college football this season and lose it back in the pros. Do I believe it strongly enough to bet on it? Not yet. But that is what I believe.

Phil's trick is this:

Have about 24 different "packages" like the Private play hotline, the 900 play of the day hotline, power sweep newsletter picks, power plays newsletter picks, midweek plays, latephones, small college, total plays, big dog, every different conference play of the day, inside information play and complimentary phone plays. Fuck, if I had 20 different groups to disperse 4 or 5 plays and over 60 games to choose from each week, a few of my groups would get hot too.
