Hold up...USC -17 @ UVA?

I saw that -17 was the opening line by the LVSC for the USC @ UVA opener. UVA is going to be awful this season. They have huge questions at QB. Peter Lalich, their prized recruit is awful. Not sure if he is going to be the starter, but if he is, he is in big trouble. He was awful in the Spring game and in no way will be able to handle the speed of USC.

Now I understand that there is "look ahead" potential with this game, but I just don't see it happening here in the season opener. USC has had big out of conference games against ranked opponents the last two seasons (Nebraska), and won by 28 and 36 against Idaho and Arkansas in their openers. I know USC will be a heavy public favorite, which I hate, but at -17 I think there is a strong chance they cover.

No look ahead for USC, 2 weeks before OSU game and a bye to in between UVA and OSU.

UVA may not score. I really see this thing shaking out like 31-3, 31-10.

This line surprised me as well. I was thinking more like -23 at the very least.

When I saw the -17 line, I had the same thought you had, that UVA may not score at all in this game, and if they do its going to be a touchdown or a fg or MAYBE both, but I just cant see them getting much done aganist a USC team....28 points by USC is going to cover the spread in this game easily

At -17 this is a rubberband game!

Also, look for UVA to have a tough game the following week against #3 ranked 1AA Richmond.....

</td> </tr> </tbody></table> Two University of Virginia football players have been arrested at a downtown Charlottesville nightclub. Junior offensive lineman Will Barker and redshirt freshman lineman Dave Roberts were picked up at Club 216 on Water Street at 3:45 Saturday morning.
Police say both men admitted to stealing beer from a cooler at the nightclub. Both face larceny charges. Roberts, who is 19 years old, is also charged with being a minor in possession of alcohol and with using a fake ID.
Barker is expected to be a starter on the offensive line after being named a second-team freshman All-American by the Sporting News in 2006. He's one of two returning starting offensive lineman on Virginia's team this year.
Five UVA players have been arrested during the offseason. Five other players have been dismissed from the team because of academic reasons.
UVA football head coach Al Groh has declined to comment on this story. UVA Athletic Director Craig Littlepage said they are working on addressing the arrests and academic problems across all athletic teams, not just the football team.
