I know I'm a month early - and a lot can change in a month, but I'm pulling the trigger early because I think these lines will change against me.

From Olympic:

Jets +3 vs TB at Osaka, 33.5
KC +1.5 @ GB (@ Canton, OH) 36

My 22 star pick of the week:
I'll take the Jets/TB over - During the previous 5 preseasons, there have been about 19 Hall of Fame week games - 12 have gone over 33 while 7 have gone 33 or less. Also, do you really think that the tremendous TB defense will be on the field that much? During the preseason, the Jets games average 36 points while TB games come in at a slightly lower 33 Points.

The spread is a little high at 36, but the Packers look good at only -1.5. I'll take the Pack in this game as both teams look like they'll focus on weaknesses and rookies - which, per my analysis, favors the Pack.

Review:
Jets/TB Over 33.5
Pack -1.5

Good luck!

FatBob, thanks, I appreciate the offer, but I can't see myself cheering for the cheesers.
Besides, my son and his wife, who now live in Boise (where in hell is Boise?), are going to make me a grandad this winter, so I have to save my $ and time for the big event (if I can ever find the damned place - it seems the airlines only have flights with 38 stops to get to Boise (where ever in hell Boise is?)).

Thanks for the offer, and

Good luck!

BB: Boise is a really nice city and Idaho is beautiful. When I used to be in the Air Force I was stationed out there and I was dissapointed finding out I was going there. But when I got there I was really pleased. It is a fairly big city with little or no crime, nothing wrong with that. There are only like 2 airports with connections to their little airport though, your right. So your ticket will be a little more expensive then you think.

The Osaka Bowl won't mean a hell of a lot to Mr Gruden - other than that he likes to win the nationally televised games. The Tampa Bay roster hasn't changed a hell of a lot from last year, and only a few positons are open to competition - so I don't believe that most the players will play very hard - especially after starting an early camp.
Herman Edwards is on the hot seat! He's gaining a reputation as a slow starter, and his roster was decimated with free agency desertions - and the front office didn't do a good job finding worthy replacements. Herman will be testing a lot of players at a lot of positions, and the pressure will be on all of them to perform - opportunities at starting postions are wide open, and Herman will be looking at all of them.
The need and the will to win will be stronger with the Jets, while the Bucs will want to win, but won't want to give it their best effort or get hurt.
As noted in the first post, I'll take the over. I'll wait until Friday night for the side, but right now I'm leaning toward the Jets.

Good luck!

The one area that rarely seems to get mentioned in training camp, or strongly looked at as preseason starts is special teams. This off season, the Jets took some serious hits to key positions on their special teams, losing John Hall and Chad Morton among others.
Although I like the Jets in the Osaka game, Their special temas could continually leave them in poor field position while allowing good field postion to Tampa. Because of this, I've decided to lay off of the side and just go with the total.

Good luck!

The Hall of fame game is upon us. I'm already on GB -1.5 (what the hell was I thinking - I should've waited)
I'm adding a parlay to the mix -

for 1/2 unit, paying about 4.4 to 1:
GB M/L +130
Over 18.5 for the 1st half.

KC has no defense worth mentioning - and the GB starting defense might not be playing very hard aganinst the very good KC offense - I expect 20 or more points to be scored in the first half.

Good luck!
