Montreal -105

The Bruins and Canadians both had their share of opening night chemistry issues. In both cases the flow of their games was maladroit. But in the end they both showed us what we expected before the season started. Two points for the Canadians, hand delivered by arguably the best goaltender in hockey, and an exposed Bruin defense getting pasted 6-2.

Canadians have absolutely owned the Bruins is recent history, (6 straight wins outscoring them 23-7 and 8-2 at the Garden). Rask is 3-13-3 lifetime vs. Montreal. When you consider these numbers all come from when Boston was a Stanley cup contender, newsflash, they aren’t anymore, and I have to believe this low number will be a bargain, (probably scalpable), by the time the game goes off.

Ottawa -.5 +120

Three teams play their 3rd game in 4 nights tonight but fading Toronto, who has managed only one goal in their first two, has to be the pick of the litter.

Like em both Vic, how do feel about Dal tonight

At the current price, -105, I’d be on them before Colorado but wonder how the Avs come out tonight after blowing that 3 goal lead to Minnesota. I think they’ll be some goals scored in this one.

No balls to play them but I like the leafs tonight more. Used them in my contest only though to this point. Don't think the 3/4 is a factor yet this early in the season. Leafs have 4 virtually unwinnable road games coming up. Babcock has been chewing asses out since the game ended last night. Sens with a look ahead tomorrow vs the Habs in a spotlight game. Leafs bring it hard every night, they just don't have any talent. Sometimes these emotional rival games neutralize things like that. 2 games, 2 loses so far for the Leafs with all that talent watching and trying to fix it. Babcocks no dummy. I think he can motivate them is this unlikely spot. Stranger things have happened. Good luck Vic either way. Better value the closer to puck drop too.

I don't think this is a look ahead spot for Ottawa. This is a Saturday night nationally televised game against Toronto who Ottawa always gets up for. 3/4 should most certainly be a factor this early in the season. Players are not even close to mid season form yet. Mentally the Leafs players are already beaten up by there coach. Bobcock has not been impressed with anything the leafs have done so far he lost his voice from yelling at his players before the season started. You can only yell so much until they start to tune him out. Those that don't will be the ones that stay. Leafs D have no faith in there goalie and the goalies don't have any faith in the D, both shots to start both games so far went in and Reimer isn't much of an improvement if any over Bernier. Ottawa top line will be one of the best in NHL this year if they stick together and remain healthy. Toronto will take stupid penalties and Ottawa will capitalize. I will be watching for sure tonight and I'm on Ottawa -0.5 1st PERIOD ONLY for +175 and I would be on -0.5 REG ONLY if I didn't have them in my survivor pool already.

Well I'm on Ottawa in this one at (-140). I have them to win at 64%, so its a definite play for me tonight.

I’m with you 100% regarding Babcock’s motivational strength and team’s lack of talent to pull it off. However I think the 3 in 4 has to be a factor early as everyone is just getting their game legs back. They may not be beat up like middle of January but those muscles have to be a bit stiff and soar after 2 games in three days. I know how mine feel after missing some time in the gym. ;)

Pretty much agree with this entire assessment. Except I don’t think they’ll tune out Babcock. I don’t see him yelling as much as instructing. I think they buy into what he sells just not enough talent to pull it off.

Line on the Caps game, (-.5 in regulation) went to -145 and stayed there most of the day. Suddenly it’s down to -135. I’m taking it for a unit.
Also going back to thinking the Penguins regain their fast starts as in year’s past.

Washington -.5 -135
Pittsburgh first period -.5 +155

Just saw this on HNIC warmup show. Another illustration of how today’s athlete is head and shoulders over what was 30 years ago.

I have it on DVR for tomorrow so haven’t seen any of it tonight but they certainly didn’t wilt with fatigue did they. Good call Bushay despite the shootout coin flip.
