Nashville +140
I saw a stat the other day that surprised me. Who is the highest scoring team in the league since January 19? Would the name Nashville Predators be at the top of your list? 3.3 goals over the last 9 games. Suddenly the team with arguably the best top two blueliners in the league and goalie can light the lamp. NHL beware.
Something is not right with the Bruins. I know every team has their ups and downs during a season but I wonder if it's more than just a mid-season swoon. I do believe there is some chemistry issue in the locker room. The Thomas/Obama affair clearly was not handled in the best interests of the “team”. Reportedly the Bruins brass and teammates tried for weeks prior to convince him to attend. I'm not going to debate the whole, was it right or not, thing but the bottom line is Thomas put his interests before the team and since that day the B's have gone 2-4 with Thomas going 1-2. Bruins are not scoring and not playing with the same intensity as they were earlier in the year.
New Jersey -.5 +109
Did you know, since January 8, 2011 the New Jersey Devils have gone 59-29-7? You'd be hard pressed to find another team in the league with a better record over 95 games. In fact Vancouver is the only team that surpasses them at 61-26-8.
Somehow Jersey slides under the radar and gets little respect, just like the state does in real life. But as the record shows they are a power house. Say it with me and see if that doesn't just roll off your tongue. The New Jersey Devils are a power house. Yup, hard for me too.
New York Rangers -102
I'll keep this short and sweet.
Reason number 1. King Henrik vs. the Bob.
Reason number 2. Since 3/27/04, (last meeting before the lockout), the Rangers are 16-5-2 at Philly during the regular season. Some teams just own another at a particular venue. Don't ask why, just be grateful for it.
