We all know that San Jose, Detroit, and Montreal should be considered the class of the league at this early point of the season but what teams out there offer some value in future prices today? How about these three?

Washington 35/1 Bookmaker
Caps should win the southeast and go into the playoffs as a three seed, (or higher). Their offense hasn't kicked into gear but you know it will. Goaltending is the only issue but that can change very quickly as evidenced by last year's turn around with the Huet's acquisition.

Dallas 35/1 Bookmaker
Everything that can go wrong has gone wrong for this team but the cream always rises to the top eventually and they could end up peaking at the right time come stretch drive.

Boston 33/1 5dimes
Love watching this team play. They have heart, physicality, a sound defensive game plan, and should make the playoffs.

Honorable mentions
Vancouver 38/1 5dimes
They've got Luongo and could get Sundin before it's over

Philadelphia 25/1 Bookmaker
Goaltending seems to be a issue but that can be rectified easily. Injuries have hurt them early but still own one of the deepest teams around.

Ottawa 33/1 5dimes
Hard to say anything really promising about the Sens come playoff time but the fact they should be there is good enough for me at 33/1.

Anaheim at anything better than 15/1.

Philly 100% no, they should be worse of all those listed, next to Dallas.

The most likely of al that you listed is Anaheim, Ottowa, Vancouver, Washington, and Boston...in that order.

I took Vancouver for a nice chunk, hoping like hell my team gets Sundin.

Dallas is a steal at the moment and I'll likely add them.

I was gonna email you about the CAPS.

Here we go again.....

Sincerely

Looking at $10 on Lightning for Cup at 20x1 - likely the most absurdly overpriced Future on the entire board

Crap....you got these at 5D, I'd guess?

Anyway, the Betjam odds are absurd and currently show about half the payout as your listings in Post 1

they've got Was at +1800

So it appears to be about half the value

And it makes Bolts "40x1" on your scale...either way kind of a reach that they're just a nose behind Caps

I refused to put any money down on the Caps after Huet was replaced by Theodore.
The lineup is very good but they won't win a thing with Theodore in net IMO.
Having said that, Ted Leonsis has shown a commitment to winning and I could see him pulling the trigger for a goalie if (and when) the goaltending is too bad to ignore.

This is a good thread though. It highlights how much value can be found if you look around during the season. Bookmaker/Cris tends to offer really crappy value on favourites but they hang some REALLY juicy longshots at times.

And as Barman pointed out, BetJam offers GARBAGE futures odds in general (although I love that book otherwise)....btw Barman, Cris currently offers Bolts futures at 75-1.

Cool..then that means my friends at the low-impact Outlaw will likely offer similar pricing (as CRIS)

Like the Nucks at that price. Worth taking a shot into the playoffs then begin to hedge.

Barman.

Tampa Bay is 75/1 at SBG Global.

you may want to add Betbrain.com to your list of bookmarks, it is a great site to see wether you are getting value when betting futures. Many of the books listed there are not available to Americans.... but it can give you an indication what is out there and help you determine wether to play or not.

75/1 on Tampa at SBG global is pretty good considering the next biggest is 50/1 at a place called TOTE SPORTS.

Good Luck

The above post slightly derails the thread and requires you to post at least one pic of bikinis from your Mazatlan file to restore proper balance
