I clicked it but didn't read the whole thing. But I thought he was still going to be Cherry's partner on CC.

I'll be honest, I used to really like and admire Ron. Until the Bettman interview. My entire view of him changed after that. I lost respect for him.

I thought he handled it poorly. And really...Ron did lose his stature over there after that chat. He lost the power struggle eventually so it seems.

He kept badgering him without letting him give a full answer. It was horrible. Yet most people who saw that respected Ron for what he did. I think most were Canadians that hate the man no matter what.

Ron made his own bed with that interview.

You’re correct regarding CC but MacLean is not much more than Cherry’s straight man, (see puppet), in that venue. According to the article MacLean will also be on location in various towns of Canada during a Sunday night segment called “Hometown Hockey” which really was MacLean’s forte.

Rogers is now as much of a puppet of Bettman, (and the NHL), as MacLean was on CC.

I know you like Bettman and while I don’t doubt he is a very sharp man he is a pompous arrogant asshole that shows through in every interview or action I see. He takes credit for the state of the game as if he created the game. He is not bigger than the game. Hockey was great before him and will be great long after he’s gone. He is an incredible control freak and I understand why his act wears thin on the majority of fans, (both in Canada and U.S.).

Bettman clearly does not like MacLean and wanted him gone.

Players hated playing for Scotty Bowman too. That part is irrelevant.

I never heard him take any credit he didn't help create. He's not trying to be bigger than the game. He has the tools to take the game to the next level. Like he was born to do this. He has never bothered me in the least bit. Great leaders think alike! :)

Someone else I believe, in that position, expressed to the right people, the NHL people didn't appreciate the attack. I've witnessed Gary on tens of occasions walk into the lions den and come out unfazed. It's part of the job. And he relishes the role. I just can't believe Gary told someone he wanted him gone and then the action was taken.

THe signal and the noise.

That said....I thought Ron did great hosting the round table. No way George steps in and out performs what Ron has done over the years and the respect he has gained. It's just not coming from me.
