Hello 6er...

The game in which you speak of occurred on Sept 30th of 2007, on that very same day the Detroit Lions defeated the Bears by a final of 37-27 as a 3 point doggie, the Cleveland Browns defeated Baltimore 27-13 as a 4 point doggie, and the Raiders defeated Miami 35-17 as a 4.5 point doggie.

A glance at this past season's final results shows us that the Detroit Lions got thumped 7-34 against Chicago and for the season posted a winless mark of 0-16, Baltimore thumped Cleveland TWICE by a combined tally of 65-37, and Miami defeated Oakland...

...both Baltimore and Miami made the playoffs this year with combined records of 24-12 while Cleveland and Oakland both had losing records and finished with a combined mark of 9-23.

The moral of the story, as represented by three other teams that lost that same day on Sept 30 2007 as a favorite, is that what happened last year doesn't necessarily carry over to the following year and in the examples above it gave the losing favorite extra incentive in the rematch...

...as a side note, Pittsburgh's Ben Roethlisberger has a record of 7-2 straight up and ATS in the playoffs and has won 4 of his last 5 revenge games in straight up fashion and posted a mark of 5-0 ATS in those games.

Take care my friend and be well

I think it's pretty safe to say that the Cardinals have ZERO chance to win this game for the 4th straight week.. :103631605

Come on now guys, this is SUPPOSED to be a handicapping forum and as such points and counter-points about upcoming games are SUPPOSED to be exchanged...

...meaning that its a good idea to do a little research and be able to debate in an intelligent manner the topic at hand.

Personally I haven't made my mind up one way or the other with regard to how I am going to wager on this years Super Bowl, however, it would sure be nice to hear someone else's thoughts on the subject...

...and I don't mean "Duh, I like this side because the Quarterbacks name starts with an S and so does mine".

Please don't think I am ragging on you guys because I am not, however, if you start a thread stating "History repeats itself"...WHY NOT back the statement up with a coherent analysis as to WHY history will repeat itself?

Take care and be well my friends

Let's be honest dirtydog. The stats have been hashed and re-hashed. The problem is everyone keeps bringing up how the Cards played the last few weeks of the year when they had a playoff spot wrapped up for two months. Any team is gonna get complacent like they did.

I think it's safe to say the Card's didn't face many good defenses, but Philly's was in the top 3-4 and they put up over 30 points.

I think it's also safe to say that Pitt hasn't face any offenses like the Cards. I would say the only one close would be Indy, a game in which they lost. But you can go over stats all day and find ones that favor Pitt and ones that favor the Cards. As far as I'm concerned you still have a team who feels they're getting disrespected and have zero shot in this game and one who everyone thinks is gonna steamroll and "the line should be higher" I didn't give the Giants a shot in hell last year and we saw how that turned out..

Eagles destroyed the Cardinals at home and we saw what happened at Arizona.

Steelers win by double digits.

Ya gotta wonder how many starting players for each team have changed since that game.

The Steelers offensive line will have a new RG, LG, C, and LT compared to last years game. That was a HUGE advantage for the Cardinals last year as Russ Grimm and Ken Whisenhunt knew their tendancies and schemes better than the Steelers' coaches did, and they exploited them badly. They won't have that advantagethis year.

You mean Matt Leinart starting the game? Roethlisberger throwing an interception on 3rd and goal from the 2 yard line with 53 seconds left in the 3rd quarter? The game being tied at 7-7 with 14:30 left in the 4th quarter? Arizona taking the lead on a 73 yard punt return? Warner coming in and then being replaced by Leinart in the 4th? Ken Whisenhunt's first game against his old team and played in Arizona?

The following players being injured:

Troy Polamalu
Casey Hampton
Hines Ward
Anquan Boldin

I'm not sure what will happen on February 1st but I don't think Arizona winning in Sept of 2007 will have any effect or trend on the game.

I still think "Big Ben" is carring a little extra weight (maybe it is "winter fat" or mayber it was an extra lining of what-ever he might have wearing underneath to fend off the cold; not sure.

But, still, he looked a bit "puffy" in the face last Sunday; maybe it was the cold weather (rosy cheeks perhaps).
