boy do i love having her as the face of the USA for much of the world. just really outstanding...:>(

now we get to solve Mexico's problem for them? yep, we have nothing better to do right now :103631605

MEXICO CITY (Reuters) - An "insatiable" appetite in the United States for illegal drugs is to blame for much of the violence ripping through Mexico, U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said on Wednesday.
Clinton acknowledged the U.S. role in Mexico's vicious drug war as she arrived in Mexico for a two-day visit where she discussed U.S. plans to ramp up security on the border with President Felipe Calderon.
A surge in drug gang killings to 6,300 last year and fears the violence could seep over the border has put Mexico's drug war high on President Barack Obama's agenda, after years of Mexico feeling that Washington was neglecting a joint problem.
"Our insatiable demand for illegal drugs fuels the drug trade. Our inability to prevent weapons from being illegally smuggled across the border to arm these criminals causes the death of police officers, soldiers and civilians," Clinton told reporters during her flight to Mexico City.
"I feel very strongly we have a co-responsibility."
Clinton said the Obama administration strongly backed Mexico in its fight with the drug cartels and vowed the United States would try to speed up the transfer of drug-fighting equipment promised under a 2007 agreement.
"We will stand shoulder-to-shoulder with you ... Our relationship is far greater than any threat," Clinton said at a news conference in Mexico City.
Crushing the drug cartels, who arm themselves with smuggled U.S. weapons and leave slain rivals, sometimes beheaded, in public streets, has become the biggest test of Calderon's presidency as the bloodshed rattles investors and tourists.

You don't think a demand in the USA to the tune of $38B per year does anything to make the supply a little competitive?

3 choices

1 give hard working mexicans jobs in our country

2 offer aid to mexico for their failing economy, which will not create jobs just a handout

3 prepare for more and more illegal drugs to enter playgrounds all over the country

no win situation

during the housing boom it was easy to create jobs for illegals

I have the solution. Step1. When an illegal commit’s a crime in the US execute him and send him back to Mexico in a body bag. When they are caught coming across the border repeat Step1. This will help create jobs here for those who manufacture body bags. :103631605

Choice 4 - Legalize all currently illicit drugs and shut down the illicit drug cartels

As the cartels are disempowered, Mexico finally again becomes an inviting location for major businesses to expand their operations and Mexican citizens are then inspired to stay within Mexico to get jobs.

Enterprising Americans currently facing economic stress can migrate south and participate in the biggest business and economic expansion of the early 21st century.

Or keep Prohibition in effect and watch the dead bodies pile up alongside the continued flow of Mexicans coming north illegally to find gainful employment.

On a side note….

MEXICO CITY (Reuters) - U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said Wednesday a potential missile launch by North Korea would be a provocative act that would have consequences for talks on Pyongyang's nuclear ambitions.
Clinton's comments came as a U.S. official said North Korea had positioned what is believed to be a long-range ballistic missile on a launch pad in what could be a preparation for a launch.
"We have made it very clear that the North Koreans pursue this pathway at a cost and with consequences to the six-party talks which we would like to see revived and moving forward as quickly as possible," she told reporters on a visit to Mexico City.
"This provocative action ... will not go unnoticed and there will be consequences," she said.

Somehow I don’t think Kim Jong Il gives a rats ass what she has to say. Maybe BO can make another video, something along the lines of… Dear Kim, you naughty boy…

Pretty easy how to cure insatiable demand for illegal drugs. Make them legal. No more demand for illegal drugs.

But she's right though. There is an insatiable demand. Because it's illegal.

legalizing drugs isn't going to stop the cartels. the cartels will always have something better at a better price. there is no solution to the drug war.

and no way they legalize all drugs. if its anything it's pot. then what about all the other drugs, still will be a demand for them.

the cartels also have the mexican government. they have so many crooked police and government officials who are in bed with these cartels you know nothing will ever get done on there end.

you send all the troops you want. cartels will still get through.

cartels have more soldiers and 10 times better weapons. the troops can't even get assault rifles and the cartels are shooting at them with ar-15's ak-47's and grenade launchers. they have unlimited money and can do whatever they want.

no way this can be stopped.

phoenix and san diego are already war zones or will be shortly.

Everyone embraced it in the 70's not just Hollywood...that's like say the 86 Mets are just as responsible for cocaine use...

The advent of Crack cocaine made it a common mans drug with affordable prices...that helped the spread also...

When I said Hollywood I meant music included...

bottomline is and I guess this is just my opinion

but the drugs came before the demand grew

If kids dont think its cool and its not even around, there is zero demand

Hillary is full of shit

GTC, maybe you should go to your nearest library and take out a book about Prohibition. Or google Al Capone. Or Dutch Shultz. Or the St. Valentines Day Massacre. These days I don't see big time shootouts between the Jack Daniel's folks and the Jim Beam folks. Pot AND all the other drugs should be legal.

And Hillary understands this. She's not an idiot - just a big phony.

Is the Entertainment industry to blame for the rise in Prescription drugs?

Illicit drug use is dropping...Prescription drug abuse is on the rise...

One thing that kills me about this board is everyone comes with problems but rarely do people come with solutions.
