So, the police department had this video for 13 months, and finally released it one day before being forced to do so by the court. And some people wonder why law enforcement doesn't engender a lot of trust with some people.

Im going to guess and say cause its a BLACK on BLACK crime, and doesnt fit the narrative? When a black kid is shot by a black person MULTIPLE TIMES, it isnt news...... YET, when someone obviously high on drugs, waving a knife and causing problems and not listening to police while walking down the middle of the road, he gets shot, and WOW !! OMG!!! A BLACK PERSON WAS KILLED!!!! WHAT!!! GET SHARPTON AND OBAMA!!!

Yet... a Black CHILD (9 years old) is shot multiple times while walking to his grandmothers house by probably gang members is "Meh, no news here"

Nine-year-old Tyshawn Lee was tragically shot and killed in Chicago on Monday. On Thursday, the Chicago Police Department added horror to the heartbreak saying the fourth-grader was intentionally lured into a back alley and shot multiple times as a part of a gang-related dispute to which Lee’s father, Pierre Stokes, reportedly has ties. The city's Police Superintendent called the murder "probably the most abhorrent, cowardly, unfathomable crime" he had ever seen on the job. The details of the crime certainly give weight to that assessment.

Tyshawn, a fourth-grader at Joplin Elementary School who loved to play basketball, was walking to his grandmother's house Monday afternoon when police said he was lured to the alley in the 8000 block of South Damen Avenue and shot repeatedly. A basketball he always carried with him was found nearby.
“Law enforcement sources have told the Tribune that the bloody conflict involves rival factions of two of Chicago's oldest gangs — the Gangster Disciples and the Black P Stones,” according to the Tribune. “Police believe the Terror Dome faction of the Black P Stones targeted Stokes' son because his father, a convicted felon, reputedly belongs to the Gangster Disciples' Killa Ward faction.” Stokes denies he’s in a gang. Police Superintendent Garry McCarthy said he believed Stokes might know who his son's killer is, but has refused to cooperate with police.

Are you REALLY so fucking stupid that you don't see that,

1) that a member of the very group charged to protect its citizens, law enforcement, shot a kid twice in the back, then pumped 14 more bullets into his body as he lay on the ground

2) the fact that the evidence of this was available for well over a year, that the police union fought its release every step of the way, and were forced by a court to release it(after paying five million to the victim's family while "admitting no wrong"), and that there are reports that a witness was taken into custody and grilled to try to get her to say that she didn't see what she "thought" she saw, not to mention, a stupid fucking cop deleted the security camera in the Burger King across the street, not realizing that his destroying evidence was itself caught on another camera

those 2 facts above make this situation far different from what YOU were describing? You are a fucking moron beyond description...

I'm unsure of what that has to do with not charging the police officer in the 13 months prior to the video being released. My point was simply that it should not have taken the video being released to charge this officer. It's inexcusable. Not sure where you got the idea that I was defending looting.

Ya, I mean the release itself is a whole different issue. There's obviously some risk in releasing the video, but there is also something to be said for transparency. My issue isn't that they should have released it earlier. My issue is that they had to have the threat of the video being released to finally charge this guy with murder. He should've been charged long before the judge forced their hand.

Yes it took a long time to bring him up on charges, and yes its longer then normal BUT, when cops are investigated, to get things done right, you have to turn over every rock to make sure justice is served. Which in this case it will be.
