May have told you before that im from a small town (about 30,000) in entire county.. I also own a pretty decent convenience store in this county.. Today a young man from our town comes into the store, he happens to be Jason Coble, he is about 21-22 yrs old now. He signed out of high school with the yankees, he is a fireballing (98 mph max) lefty.. He got a 250K signing bonus a couple years ago and played around with it for about 2yrs, he then quit the game and the yankees, he left a lot of bad feelings, he was trying to come back this year but tore his ACL of all things (riding a horse) and now he also is getting minor surgery.. He told me that he wished he would have done things differently, he said he was just too immature.. I told him he can still have it all, young man is maybe 23 tops and can still throw in the upper 90's but he said a lot of bad things went down with him and the yankees when he quit.. he sort of took their money and ran back home... he said they have his rights for 3 more years.. He was pretty sad about it all.. I spent the better part of an hour talking with him.. He said he spent alot of time with David Cone and Billy Conners, said he really loved Billy --- like a dad since he had recently lost his father... Just thought id tell you about this, dont really know why.. He seemed to be a mixed up young man - who wished he would of done things differently.... but man to still be 23 and to throw it in the upper 90's (lefthanded)... he can still have it all.. he lives close to my store, so ill be talking with him alot over the next few months,,,, says he is going to come back next year..... Instructional ball down in florida (im sure).. Ill keep you posted on the young man.. Jason Coble..

Very true...the Kid will regret it later SSI..when he is 35 and delivering for UPS he will always think back to those days....Stay on him...ANYONE who can throw in the 90's should be sticking with it...most people don't realize just how hard that alone is...

cool story SSI

the story that im getting is that he just got plain old homesick.. he lost his dad and his mom was going through alot.. he said that he really thought alot of Billy Conners and David Cone, guess they were working with some of the young guys..

Ill definately stay on him, even though i dont like the yanks.. he is about 6'3' 190lbs.. defintie makeup of a pitcher... told me he pitched against tim raines and ricky williams (nfl).. he had some good stories.. he said that the yanks wont release him for 3 more years.. ill keep you posted..
