Seriously. The guy who wrote this column sounds like he possesses some of the very sames chromosomes as you. so I gotta feel he must, at the very least be a cousin.

Now, on a side note, I UNDERSTAND the way that the majority of Canadians feel about Bettman. REALLY i do. I don't agree, but I see your side of things. You guys deserve another team. And I believe it can be pulled off. Even with all the politics involved. And should be at every cost. But they way this Basillie is going about things is just counter productive. The NHl is made up of an old boy network. Even if this judge rules in his favor that he CAN buy the Coyotes...it has to be approved by 2/3rd of the 30 owners. Now these guys know that if they allow a NEW franchise to join the league, the new owner has to shimmy up about a $300 million new franchise fee that they all benefit in some way. They get shit if they allow him to purchase and move the Coyotes to Hamilton or wherever he thinks he can move them to. He's trying to bully his way into the old boy network and unless he has some VERY VERY smart attorneys on his payroll, this bid will end they way the Nashville bid did. Unsuccessfully. Now, I understand I don't have all the facts here but to read this clowns column yesterday and this person not seeming to have the first clue as to how this needs to play out, who the fuck is this guy and how is he writing hockey articles for one of the greatest hockey franchises ever? I just don't get it. I wan't to send this guy a reply but I know i'm just wasting my time and his. Is this guy for real? Has he been writing about the Canadians for very long? Isn't the Gazette one of the more respect papers in Montreal?

And is there someone other than Ivan that can help me out on this one? I already know his response in advance.

Sorry bushay, i read the article and i just couldn't follow it. It jumps all over the place. Maybe its just me or maybe its just one too many shots I took to my head I just couldn't figure out where it was going.

But as my personal opinion (and wish) I hope Ballsile or anyone else for that matter places another team here. Not even in hamilton, but closer to toronto like in vaughn or North york. They will draw many fans here and believe it they will give the leafs a run for their money. They might even do better since the hard core hockey fans live mostly in vaughn and surrounding areas.

But when all summed up I know that there is probably no chance of that happening so I'm stuck watching this CRAPPY team calling itself an Nhl team. And the Leafs will have the final say.

That's pretty much my point. Horrible journalism.

Fear not. Burke will lead you to the promised land. Just be patient. I't not gonna happen overnight. I think you guys are finally on the right track.

The only thing I like about Balsillie's approach is this:

NOBODY would be talking about another Canadian team if it wasn't for him.
If he quietly applied for a franchise and gets rejected, there's no story. NHL just says he's unsuitable and that's that.

This MFer stirred the pot. Even if it's not him getting a team he made us all realize that Canada deserves another team.

Without Balsillie, the NHL would have found a way to sweep the problems of failed franchises under the rug. That fucking liar Bettman told us all about a year ago that the Phoenix franchise was totally healthy. Is it healthy now you lying motherfucker??

So if anything, Balsillie has brought this issue to the front pages of Canadian newspapers. I'm all for that.

(By the way, this has nothing to do with the article you posted...lol)

Never..... they are afraid that if they win the cup then they will go the way of the blueJays.

Why fix something that is not broken? Stadium is always sold out and the worst they are the more money they make. They still had the balls to raise ticket prices another 11% for next years tickets.

M.L.E. makes a killing with their concerts and other events so there is no preassure on them to change anything.

Unless a new team comes here with a stadium that can also accommodate other events. "Bring on some competition"

Well, that's IS a pretty good reason to like him. One anyway! :)

Not to say he didn't lie but, at one time late in the season the coyotes were in the playoff hunt. The players are paid [by the owners] during the regular season. The monies they make during the playoffs are ALL paid by the NHL. So if the Coyotes make the playoffs that's pure profit for the owner. The more home games the more they off set their reg. season losses. I don't think he lied. I think he gave everyone as little information as he wanted to. A 2nd round playoff appearance would have absolved a lot of debt.

Which leads me to a question i have been trying to find out for some time. Just how much profit is a home pllayoff game worth to an owner. I realize it differs in different towns, but their has to be some sort of "general" number a game is worth. Love to know that answer as best it could be told.

What happened with the Blue jays win?

Sounds a lot like the situation here with the Detroit Lions. That go 0-18 and they still pack the building. I know just what your saying here crazy.

>Unless a new team comes here with a stadium that can also accommodate other events. "Bring on some competition"

But theres a mileage radius that the Leafs and Sabres also own the rights to. So the rich will only get richer if it goes through. But both those teams AND Detroit will vote against this move. Detroit want to be the next team to move to the East because of all the travel. So it's already been discussed that will vote him down as well. There's so many other factor involved as well not to mention they just don't like they way he's going about trying to do this his way. The old boy network doesn't play like that. And their very united.

As I said earlier, there's a lot I'm not even aware of but he sure has a uohill battle ahead.

there has been talk about a team going to hamilton for at least 25 years but it's always the same argument from the leafs & sabres about it costing them money. personally i think there are way more than enough hockey fans in that area to support another team. i don't think it would hurt toronto at all because you can't get tickets to a leafs game unless someone dies. buffalo on the other hand gets a lot of their fans from hamilton & even toronto so it could possibly hurt them a little. the real problem is that hamilton is such a small market for television & having a team there wouldn't increase exposure or television contract money.

Bushay is completely correct. Without greasing the other owners' pockets with expansion fees, Hamiltion wont happen, becasue they get jack if Balsille moves a team there.

:):) :):) :):)

Oh and by the way, even though I don't have time to open your link and read the story or article or whatever it is you've included in your thread, I must say I'm so glad to know that you and the others who chirped in here with a comment or two enjoy reading my articles. Keep on reading boys.
