What a match-up, ay?

Well, havent really had a chance to see much of the RED WINGS play this last month.

The Lightning, it doesnt take a genious to figure out, are hitting on all cylinders.

In this incredible streak they have been on to claim the #1 spot in the NHL, since January 8th they have ONLY lost two games in regulation and both by the same slimmest of margins, 2-1!

Really a fun team to watch play right now and with their last win they took over the RED WINGS as the top in the overall standings..........and I would think this would motivate the WINGS to recapture the top spot tonight and show them whos boss.

Martin St. Louis is finally getting lots of press and deserving so and may even walk away with the HART Trophy. However, they are so much more than Martin. In the last 10-20 games Vinny L. has really stepped up his game and he is turning into the player everybody thought he would and could be.........this guy will have HART TROPHY potential the next few years. Quite a youthful 1-2 punch with those two...............Andrechuck and the addition of Darryl Sydor gives the team valued leadership.

Do you like either team tonight Charlie???

Tough game..........nothing would surprise me in the outcome of this one.

I think it more of a biggame for Detroit personally........they have more at stake in this one IMO.

Either way, I hope its a close game.

ps- Headed out in a few hours and heading down to the forum to get my playoff tickets.

Detroit gets Darrian Hatcher back tonight, so that should help on the blueline. However, the loss of Pavel Datsuyk to an ankle injury will hurt.

Will IM you when the game is on. Will be watching it on the NHL Center Ice package on Directv.

Sounds good Charlie!

I know I will be at happy hour a couple hours before gametime, but hopefully will not get talked into staying there and watching the game, so should be home.

Thanks buddy!

DickyW - I was born right in Detroit, but I was a sports writer for the Daily Tribune in Royal Oak for three years in the late 70s.

Do you still live in Michigan?

Dicky W - That is ironic. I also go back to visit family once a year and I will also be back there in July to see the Tigers/Yankees series.

Charlie, you must be a masochist to save your one trip home to see the Tiggers get pounded

When I go back to Seattle to see the Huskies play I use the usual "homecoming" theory and find a team they should have some success with...

Wild Bill - Once a Tigers fan always a Tigers fan. I am not one of these "fair weather" fans that just supports his team when they are good. Of course when your team losses 119 games and comes one loss away from tying the all-time record it does get rather depressing.

Yeah true, but even I am realistic. When the team is doing well and is competitive with the best, then sure would love to see them play them. When they aren't playing so well then I save my visits for games where a competitive match is likely. I never abandon the team though like most fair weather fans. Then again in Vegas about 90% of the people are fair weather, it scares me to think it could be contagious!

The problem with waiting for the Tigers to play a competitive team is that they don't play the Toledo Mud Hens until an exhibition game in August.

FWIW - I do not think the half goal (+.5 +108) is worth 40 cents in this game. You can play TB at pick +148 (Pinny). Essentially you are buying push insurance for 40 cents, the Nings stand a very good chance to win the game outright on the ice. The loss of Pavel Datsuyk will hurt the Wings offense. Hatcher's first game back, while a emotional lift for the Wings most likely will not be a big factor in the outcome.

remember though, they are battling for first overall, this could mean they go all out in the case of OT...but they may also play defensively not wanting to give the other the point...I bought in at + X +108, if I had waited it went up to +X +111

I cant beleive the line went to +122 at Pinny, now at +117....

fwiw, that is a great mathematical proposition

at least a 50% chance of win or tie by Tampa tonite...
