I just found out an old friend of mine just overdosed on heroin. 32 years old.. we were best friends for years, than We had a falling out and kind of just went our seperate ways. But A falling out doesn't erase a decade of great memories and fun times we had together. I'm so glad I stopped hangin out with that crowd. I'm not looking for condolences from anybody , just trying to start a discussion... it's truely is a fucking epidemic out here in jersey. It's over 3 times The national rate.. the suburbs are worse than the city's. I personally know 5 people that overdosed and died from it this year. Is it an epidemic like this everywhere else or is it more of an east coast thing ? Any of you guys lose any friends / family to it? Lord knows I've done my fair share of partying.. I'll drink and smoke weed till my hearts content but I never once picked up that shit and tried it and I damn sure never will.

Yeah it's bad in SC too. I know good hearted young adults you never would guess it would happen to who are trying to put their lives back together after getting hooked on it.

I'm in my early 30's, it seems the majority of these overdoses are users in there 20's and 30's.. it's the same old story. They get hooked on the pills and when that becomes too expensive or they get cut off they start with the heroin. Than its a vicious cycle of living your life around being dope sick. You end up either dead or in prison eventually.. the numbers have been sky rocketing the last few years

I hear it's cheap also because our foreign enemies are flooding our country with it on purpose

It's extremely cheap.. you read about a drug bust in the paper, seizure of a couple kilos , or someone with 2,000 packets and the cops act like they did something .. that ain't even beginning to put a dent into what's out there ... Canada just kind of "legalized" heroin in a way.. not that you can goto a store and buy it, more along the lines of you can goto a doctor if your addict and get a proper dosage 2 or 3 times a day.. maybe that's the answer, who the hell knows.. what ever we got goin on in America sure as hell ain't workin.. the cops carry narcan around with them now in case they run into an overdose.. it kills the effects of heroin and brings them back saving there lives if the person overdosing is lucky enough to have it administered in time

At least up in North Jersey they are starting to treat the problem on a social level rather than a criminal one. Instead of just arresting heroin users and feeding them into the system they are trying to get them the help they need to kick the addiction. I'm sure the fact that most of those they catch are upper middle class white kids has something to do with this policy shift.

Not a week goes by without hearing how the police have saved someone ODing with a NARCAN pen.

It's an epidemic in the midwest too. I've lost 6 or 8 acquaintances, 2 of whom were pretty close friends. Shit is a scourge.

Terrible epidemic....Now add in the treatment of addicts with another opioid (methadone) not sure how they plan on fixing it. They are just replacing one need with another.
Addicts need to go cold turkey to get off of it which is near impossible from what I here.

had a friend prescribed to suboxone (sp?) to get off heroin. tried one of his little tabs before and was completely destroyed and sick. can't believe people enjoy that feeling from the gate

Not surprised it made you sick (assuming you don't have an opioid addiction.)
Not a good idea!!

If you go to an AA meeting nowadays as an alcoholic, you are in the minority. It's almost like they don't even make plain old drunks anymore. Full of 20-something heroin addicts; almost exclusively middle-class white kids. It's sad.

I know someone who is an H dealer. It's amazing how popular that shit is. And Meth. Fuck all that shit. He buys directly from the Kartel. His wife sometimes has to pick it up for him and they will send a girl chica so she feels more comfortable. His phone is constant with people wanting to meet. He will have 7 people waiting in a parking lot at any given time. Crazy stuff.

It's bad here in Appalachia too. Most of it is coming in from Detroit and D.C. In our area. A good friend lost his teen son. Was a great kid too.

Yeah, you aren't hearing too much about "personal responsibility" when it comes to drug addiction anymore. Sad it took an epidemic like white kids/veterans on heroin for people to feel that way but better late than never.

A town up here in Mass last year started an "Angel" program where they steer addicts to rehab rather than arresting them.

It really took off....crime went down, and they funded the program with money seized from busting dealers.

Is the cause of the rise in deaths that Fentanyl is being added to the Dope? A few weeks back 5 people OD'd from Thursday thru Saturday just in Akron Ohio. Number of deaths as result of Heroin OD is being even more under-reported than other stuff your media is electing not to tell you.

Fentanyl in the Dope may be at the root of the shocking number of deaths occurring. Theres stories online that address the Fentanyl issue but "puzzlingly" Mainstream Media is completely refusing to report to the American People the large numbers of people dying.

If Fentanyl is in fact at the base of this phenomenon, Uncover who is cutting the Heroin with Fentanyl. That would shed some light on this darkness.

Low level dealers are somehow getting their hands on Fentanyl and cutting the dope with it? Or is it showing up in USA with F already in it?

Definite Answers are out there, somewhere. Condolences to you davey on the loss of your friend and to others who have lost friends and family.

I was on a federal grand jury where a there were a bunch of ODs due to the chemical added to the heroin. A young girl was given 7 doses of NARCAN...that stuff is crazy too
