I had Heritage Sports (heritagesports.com) tell me today that my account could not longer be used because I was not a recreational bettor.

They would provide no further specific details except saying something about the forums that exist on the internet. They owe me no money currently and I had only won under 5 dimes from them in the past.

I take that to mean that they do not like winners! period! STAY AWAY!!!

Just a heads up for all of you out there looking for good solid sportsbooks, heritage is not one of them.
In this awful global economy, its hard to trust your money anywhere. I wouldnt' be surprised if some take the money and run at any time. Do not trust Heritage Sports.

Best of Luck with your wagering.

cool, as long as they pay you, far from a stiff job here, IMO.

i never said they stiffed.
everything i won was also done fair and square.
But why would somebody want to bet with a book and have them throw you out after or during a nice win streak ?

I would not expect to get the boot, for under 10k won anywhere, even SIA, but OK as long as they pay.

I just had one of the best stretches versus Heritage and I have ever had against any sportsbook since I have been doing this. I won close to 10k there this fall. I requested a 3k (max) payout monday at noon and had the check Wednesday morning. I asked when I could ask for another 3k payout they said the next day. They were very friendly. I have been treated nothing but fair in all my expierneces there. I was just talking to my closet gambling buddy and he just told me the same thing. I am sorry what happened to you but they are one of my favoirte books. They will shade their line from time to time and you find a lot of value there and they pay lightning fast with numerous payout options.

Every book is iffy now, esp. CR books aimed at the USA ( I'm guessing Heritage is an old school book based in CR? ). I do have an account at Heritage, but not used in some time.

It will only get worse as the USA heads into a major 1930's type depression.

There are way too many books.

Heritage Sports has always been a great book with great lines. I know Heavy Betters who have balances in excess of 20 grand that have always been treated well. Good book.

I may be wrong, but I think Heritage is run by a guy about the age of Jimmy Carter. He might be slowing down things a bit, sort of quitting ?

no. I dont talk to anyone unless I do a w/d and spoke to some CD and he gave me my options. Actually have lost their 3-4 times in a row and have had to re-up each time. Never beat them.

Let's stretch it a bit.... Heritage has always been an honorable book, always paid. You are comfortable enough with them.

Jimbo Carterero (age 85) owns Heritage, you have $20,000 there. He dies ! Do you get your 20k, back ?

I have had an account with Heritage for several years. I have always been treated very well. In my opinion they do their business well win or lose.

Right on Doug, I predict that some books will take the money and run toward the end of football season or after superbowl. Nothing stops them, just open another one with a new name next year.....
Smart people have got out of this because of the hassles, and that will continue...

May be time to move to Vegas :drink:

I'm not even talking about "take the money, and run books". Heritage seems small to me, certainly not in a well regulated place like Australia.

If It really is one old geezer behind it ( ?) what happens if he dies ? Heritage has a fine rep, but I fear they may be basically a one old-man book.

I don't trust any of these books with large amounts, large being a vague number... say 100k ( larger than I ever had offshore). I've had 10k+ in various accounts, but not 100k. I don't think I'd trust ANY book with over 10k, now !, actually more like 1-5k is more like it. I've had balances approaching 50k before at individual books, like Canbet., but never over 100k in total.

I keep chump change offshore now.

That pretty much sums it up. Some books will live with steam players, syndicate players, etc-others will tell them to get lost.

It goes back to the old motto "We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone".
