Help With Online Stock Trading

Hey everyone,

I'd like to buy and sell stocks online. I have about 500-1000 to play with. I can't make my mind up where to start and with what online company.. ie e-trade or something...

I'd like to investigate stocks on my own and make my own calls. This would simply be something fun to do and not much of a profit/loss thing for the long term.. more less a learning curve i'd like to tackle.

Appreciate any rec.. if you help and you get a reward for a referal I'd put you down if I signed up.

I had an ETrade account but that was for a high savings rate at their bank not the stock part of it but I liked what I saw.

I am really happy with Scottrade, but I have also heard TD Ameritrade has a great platform.

Stick it in a CD or Index type Mutual fund .... $500-$1000 is not enough to trade with.. commissions would take all your profit.

When you get $5K then you can think about stock trading
