Help.. moving question..

Hi guys..

So, im back at the point of my life where im fed up with Canada and im looking to move back to the wild west that is costa rica.

I need some help.. I have a LOT of stuff that i wouldn't want to sell. I'd want to bring it with me (if its feasible). When shipping from CANADA to CR is it by weight or by container? How does it work?

I also have a gorgeous pitbull (English staffordshire x Rednose) i'd want to bring him too (what do i need to bring him)? :think2:

There are basically two sizes of containers, 20ft and 40 ft. For the most part, weight or dimensions does not matter when shipping containers, which can be shipped maritime (sea) or ground (truck). Ground is not widely available to Costa Rica, but maritime is. And if you are shipping the amount of stuff that you stated, it is probably your best bet. The only draw back is transit time.

The other option available to you is air (courier). UPS/Fedex/DHL can quote this for you, but here is where weight vs. dimensions come into play. Shipping weights for courier companies are determined from whichever is greater, dimensions (space) or actual weight. For note: dimensional weight is calculated as the height (cm) x width (cm) x length (cm) divided by 5000 equals kilos. You may also want to quote freight forwarding from Miami, it may be better to have it sent ground from Canada to Miami and then forwarded by air or sea to CR..
For answers about the dog, try arcr.net.. They have a posting forum and that question comes up quite a but.

This is a good idea specially if you are bringing bulky stuff which it seems you are! then again, ask yourself if its a good value to do that instead of just selling and buying over here

I know jetbox (jetbox.com ) does have maritime service.
