Last week I started two threads I hoped would give me an idea of how good (or bad) profitability has been for online sportsbooks this year. I was particularly interested in facts or rumors concerning any book that might not be around after the super bowl ('to pay us' i didn't say). I was surprised that the only reply i got was, to euphemize, a thumbs down vote on the thread.
This confused me. I thought, how could other gamblers not share my fear of getting paid in this slow-as-hell, post neteller era, especially with the tightened credit markets? Didn't everyone want to set up a 'batting order' of where and how quickly to withdraw? Tonight I spoke with a friend who's both an experienced gambler and an experienced poster (I'm the former but not the latter) and he told me that the readers -- you guys -- probably assumed that I was a fed/US attorney/DA/etc.
This horrified me. I won't bore you with my background, but suffice it to say that I would feel greatly misunderstood if that were the case. Besides, I told him, people would sniff what few posts I have made and that should make my motives clear. The discussion (and the scotch) declined from there. Anyway, we've made a bet that we need your help to decide. In your opinion, was the primary reason the thread received no replies that people suspected I was a law enforcement figure, or was the primary reason anything else (post was stupid, people were tired, uninteresting subject, absolutely anything -- i've essentially got the Field). If you have an opinion, thanks for sharing; if not, thanks for your time.
Good luck to all, Nobody.
PS: Wouldn't it be freaky if I got no replies to this thread as well? Or, would it finally be a step toward achieving my ultimate high school fantasy of being able to turn invisible?
