Well guys I have a strong feeling this years Heisman winner will be Eli Manning. Here are my simple reasons why. Disagree if you must. Agree if you like. Either way, I am taking the odds on him to win.
Reason why I rule out the other two favorites above Eli.
#1 Jason White- He probably would have won it and is actually was still the favorite at Carib sports, but has now been listed as +135. That is a big drop from Tuesday, when he was still listed as a -400 favorite. He won't win it because he lost the Big 12 Championship Game. He had two int. and did not throw a TD pass. He was exposed to the put, and this wont set in good with the voters.
#2 Larry Fitzgerald- He was listed to be second, but now is listed as the favorite at Even. I think he wont win it because one he did not make an impact in the Miami game, which could have given Pitt a share of the Big East Title, something that they never have been. That game will hurt his chances. Secondly, I think he wont win the Heisman because he is just a Sophmore. I remember, when Rex Grossman was clearly a favorite to win the Heisman, but it was noted that because he is a Sophmore voters may not be so willing to vote on someone coming back for two more years. I guess, they want you to be a Junior or Senior.
#3 Eli Manning
A. He has led Miss back to the National spotlight and brought back a winning tradition to Ole Miss, and almost guided Miss to the SEC Championship.
B. He just won that other award that recognizes the best college athlete in the Nation. Dam its name is eluding me at this time.
C. He passed for over 3,300 yards this year, had 27 TD's, w/ only 9 ints.
D. He is a Senior and is projected by many to be the first player taken in the draft.
E. He comes from a great tradition of QB's. Following his father Archie and his brother Payton Manning.
F. His father has a vote and I think it'll be for Eli.
G. He succeeded at QB, although playing under the pressure of living up to his father and brothers accomplishments.
H. He is a scholar athlete and great role model.
I. He set 45 records as QB at Miss. Breaking even some of his fathers records.
J. He is a wholesome young man and comes from a family who has been nothing but great representatives of this sport. Who better to bestow this award onto then him.
- I am sure I missed some, but I am drained right now. So add in to this thread if you desire to. I wont mind ,and would love the input.
Currently , he listed with the rest of the field at +350 . I like it , should have locked it in alot sooner , but I will take this dog.
Let me hear what you think . Aloha, CC.
