Health/Life Insurance In CR?

Hey all,

I am looking for advice on where to get health/life/serious injury insurance for myslef, and my family (Pregnant wife, 1 1/2 yr. old daughter). Does Blue Cross/Blue Shiled have an office here? Can I sign up if my wife is already pregnant? My wife, and I are residents my kids are all Tico. P.S. Costa Rica is nice, but I want nothing to do with INS.

i purchased a book in the airport.. i think it title is "retirement planning in Cr" it has a section about insurance. i am in the insurance biz and i have a friend that lives there and he told me that his mother is alive today because of the doctors there in san jose. she had cancer and the docs in london keep telling her that she had a stomach virus and giving her meds. she had a real bad pain while visiting her son and now she is ok. the docs there said she was weeks from death. he told me that everyone pays $50 (i think)... and the docs and dentist were great.

Smokey, one of the best books for info down here. I got my insurance through a guy named Dave Garret. Although it is through INS, he handles your claims and all the paper work. Quite pleased with him.

Yea... my connection is a BMI international policy... i pay 1300 a year for a 2.5million dollar plan.
