Hawaii faces a brutal travel schedule, playing Cal in Sydney, Australia, at Michigan and
at Arizona all during the first month of the season. That's roughly 14,000 plus travel miles
during the month of September. The Warriors do get a break playing UT-Martin after
the Michigan game. Could be a good opportunity for a gaming man to keep an eye on.

2016 Schedule
Cal (Sydney), at Michigan, Tenn-Martin, at Arizona, Open Date, Nevada, at San Jose St,
UNLV, at Air Force, New Mexico, at San Diego St., Boise State, at Fresno St, UMass.

Add the fact the Rainbows are breaking in a new head coach...Button Up Nelly!

Nice vacation for the kids from Tenn-Martin! I wonder how that was worked out. Did Hawaii have to pay them (like bigger D1 schools pay the Hawaii's of CFB to take a beating)? Hawaii has 6 home games, so other than the trips to Sydney and Michigan it's a typical travel schedule for them.

Hawaii has a new head coach and staff and travel 5,700 miles to get the dog beat
out of them by California. Then, turn around and travel 5,400 miles to really get
clobbered by Michigan. Why?

The AD in charge of this schedule should be taken over to Pearl Harbor and dropped
in with an anchor around his neck. Stupid ass!

I kind of like Hawaii in the first week vs Cal. The number has gone up from Cal -20.5 to -24 the past week. Cal returns just 10 starters, and won't have QB Goff anymore. I usually fade Hawaii against the P5 schools when they aren't playing at home. But in this case they are playing in a far away land in Australia, they return 16 starters, 9 on offense, and return most of their top tacklers. Plus they were -23 in turnovers last year. I don't see them repeating that number. So there could be a little line value on them to start the season. Don't be surprised after Cal's good season in 2016 if that -24 goes up before kickoff...Steam that baby! Hawaii +24

Excellent food for thought Sooner.

What worries me is a losing team with a new coaching staff having to travel
over 11,100 miles in their first two games.

Cal did lose a ton of experience last year so -24 or +24 ??. Michigan didn't.

My take is the Rainbow guys are in for another LONG season.

Mack, I have flown from Atlanta through Dallas to Hawaii twice.

Once there Maui or the Big Island...took me two days to get over it.

Sooner makes a valid point with Cal because they have to travel also.

I would imagine Hawaii is more used to that kind of travel than Cal. This may not be the greatest play either way. But I think the important thing to remember here is Cal didn't have a good defense last year. It was their offense that won them games. Their biggest point spread last year was -21 at home. But now they are traveling thousands of miles to play a team with nothing to lose who has been practicing all summer for them. It's always possible that their superior P5 strength will take over in the second half and they will run away with it. But the QB transition after losing a 3 year starter isn't always smooth in those early games. Hawaii has nowhere to go but up after their last two coaching duds...

Hawaii will be dead meat against Michigan in the second game. I'm guessing they will be
40 to 45 point dogs. No matter, Jimmy can name the score and he wants glory early on
for his team.

Right now, Hawaii as a dog in the first two game is MONEY.
