I saw Fernando to it to the Cardinals at Dodger stadium. Earlier in the evening, there was another no-hitter thrown by (I'm pretty sure) Dave Stewart for Toronto. BTW...lost a bundle on that STL no-hitter versus Johnson.

Was that on a Friday nite? Then on that sunday Dennis Martinez pitched a perfect game?

yes it was a Friday night. I was living in PHX and actually went to the game because I was a Cardinal fan. I cut out the box score and put it in a little frame with the ticket stub.

In 2012 I was at AT&T Park for Matt Cain’s perfect game against Houston, the only perfect game in the 130 year history of “my” San Francisco (New York) Giants franchise . . . My good friend John from Phoenix is a Ford sales manager and we had free tickets through one of his umpire buddies (although not one of the umps working that game). Our seats were between home plate and 3rd base, only about 15 or 20 rows back, sitting with my sister and her husband (who have had a 1/3 share in a Giant’s season ticket package for 20 years now, but not like these seats) . . . We missed the top of the 1st inning, so when it got to around the 5th inning we made sure to check with some people next to us that it was a perfect first inning (i.e., could have been a walk and a double play, etc.), and not just a no hitter we were witnessing. Two great defensive plays in the outfield in the late innings, and a tough play for the final out by Joaquín Árias who was a late inning sub at 3rd base for defensive purposes . . . A full house, a World Series Championship season, a great (historic) moment.

The very next day, John and I were in the perfect spot (no one had a better spot), directly behind the hole at the back of the green, when Nick Watney made a double eagle on the 17th hole at Olympic in the first round of the U.S. Open . . . Two rare moments, back to back.

Never saw one in person. Here is some trivia from years ago maybe some of the old timers might know without looking up

i was at a game years ago where the pitcher hit 2 home runs in the game and it was the 2nd time he had done that in 6 weeks. The first time he did it he also threw a no hitter. Name the pitcher.

Ill give a hint as to when this happened. It was the 2nd game of a doubleheader and in the first game I saw Willie Mays hit a home run.
