Well, so I have been unemployed since January and shit finally hit the fan as I no longer have savings to cover payments. Received a message saying my debt has been sold to someone else and to be expecting a harsh visit. Besides the obvious "sleeping" with a gun under your pillow (cant hardly sleep and everytime I hear a vehicle outside I make sure)... what's the best way to approach this?

I would have kept an open line of communications. I would like to think that most people will work with you, as long as you communicate and don't avoid them. If someone threatens me with violence though, I'd let them know that there will an equally violent reaction.

I did, I did communicate my intentions of making good for it 1 week before and the guy gave 1 week ultimatum, the day came and then he said I had 3 days and when I didnt reply to that for 4-5 hours he said, "actually you have 1".

I did not threat tto react violently and did not say I have a gun, I mean, if the guys are the real deal is not like that is gonna scare them off 100%, but if they are and they are not expecting me to be armed or dangerous I have a better chance.

Work out a payment plan . They just want the money. They don't want to do anything they can go to jail for

Could get out of dodge? Not sure if that is possible but Dana White owed Whitey Bulger's crew $ and he dipped to Vegas. Now dude is running the UFC.

no but only thing I can think of is they sold it to some guys who will meet with you and think if they break your TV and coffee table you will magically have money the next day who knows

Is that much that they're willing to threaten violence? They're probably using scare tactics but want you to start paying.

Nope, pretty bad financially to go anywhere. Basically turning stones already turned see if I can find a nickel. Job hunting being more hard than I thought it was going to be.

This is why even if you are playing on credit you should already have a bankroll, and not bet out of your means 1-2%. If it's really not that much and you tried to work with him, and he's still lit up, he's probably bush league and full of shit.

How much we talking. Not really an exact amount but is this an amount you can earn with a job soon with your skill set?
Are you set on having to have a specific job or are you pretty much open to anything temporary?

Is this a bookie or a regular debt?

Never heard of a bookie selling off a debt to a debt collector.

Maybe it's time for a life change in a new country.

Without knowing the particulars maybe some of this will help.

If there is a way you need to contact this agency ASAP.
Try to get to them/him before they/he gets to you.
Try to set up a meeting.

The first thing this agency is probably trying to figure out is if you actually have money.

Many people say they are broke when they have the means to pay.

You need to set up the meeting and prove somehow that you really are broke because this is something this agency is not 100% sure of yet.

Once you convince them that you are indeed broke this should keep them from inflicting any immediate harm.

It really is pointless to to hurt or kill someone over a lost cause.

After you establish the fact that you are indeed broke you really need to convince them that paying them back is top priority.

Then you need to make it happen even if you have to humble yourself and work somewhere below your skill set for a while.

And most importantly don't let yourself get in this situation ever again.
