was offered a hockey scholarship to North Dakota but opted to play in the OHL instead...

I played for the Ottawa 67's in the OHL as well. Me and Dennis Potvin. Who did you play for MistaFlav?

Me too. I walked on D-I at Cincinnati. Never played a lick of football other than backyard shit.

Played with the likes of Sam Garns. Jason Fabini, Awtrel Hawkins, etc....

Needless to say, I made the team, but took a beating at 6' 225
I was a walk on wrestler at Nebraska. Quite a wake up call to say the least

Played the 80-81 and 81-82 seasons. Two years after I left they won the Memorial Cup against Kitchener. That was the year that Laval (Mario Lemieux) represented the QMHL. Guess they needed to shake some dead weight to step their game up!:ughhh:

I've seen this term so many times but how does the walk-on work esp. for the big Div -I schools?

Do you show up and ask the coach for a tryout? Is there a special session just for that?

I played about 20 years later...LOL...still a small world.

I guess my claim to fame is having Ray Emery as my goalie with the Don Mills Flyers...

the way it worked in Cincinnati. Was you call and sign up for a conditioning class. ours was held 2 days a week. and it was anything but conditioning.

it was down right brutal i tell you. for a straight 2 hours, you busted your ass running, and running, and running. we had guys passing out, throwing up, etc....i think it was a bit extreme. out of the 50 or so, after the 1st week 10 or more was gone, and some left in the middle.

by the end of the 2 months, it was down to half, and about 6 of them made it to spring ball, and after springball, maybe 1-2.

in the end, the conditioning class was by far my worst experience ever, nothing compared to that once you made the team, it was a cake walk.

the strength coach was Mickey, he is with notre dame now, fucking beast he was, and NO MERCY was his game.:drink:
